I didn't know the NCAA had given the teams a deadline. It will be interesting to see if Utah and Florida change their mascots.

I'm going to be the Asshole

Tolerance is just another way of saying allowing something to happen, exist, or what-the-fuck-ever. Fuck tolerance, how about we try to understand?  Makes more sense to understand and empathize with someone than to allow it without fully understanding the situation.

As for the team names, how about we all grow up a little bit, wipe our asses with politcally correctness, and quit this hangnail bullshit.  Hey, double standards offend me, but oh fucking well.

Life sucks, get a fucking helmet. - Denis Leary.  God bless him.

You go Tiger!
It never ceases to amaze me what people have the time to bitch about! What in the world could be discriminating about having a powerful, victorious team named after you? My guess is, years from now, when some people see that there are no teams named after them, they'll want to know why, and start suing people because they aren't seen as suitable for powerful, victorious team mascots...

This controversy has been around for a while.  Stanford used to be Indians (God knows why?).  Now they are Cardinal--and have a tree for a mascot.  St. John's was Redmen (like twodog).  Now they are Red Storm.  Marquette was Warriors.  Now they are Golden Eagles (taking the name of a noble bird in vain).  Many others have dropped their native American names, including Miami of Ohio, formerly Redskins, now Redbirds (there they go direspecting birds again!).  Now consider these variations:  A Native American intra-mural team named themselves "The Fightin' Whites."  Then there are "The Flying Jews", "The Anglo-Saxons", and "The Militant Blacks."  How about "The Scrappin' Mexicans" or "The Radical Evangelicals"?  Isn't it fun?   Hemlocker

It never ceases to amaze me how some teams come up with their names. I'm not up to par with USA teams, but some Australian ones are really weird!
