So in one breath you are saying we are better than them, then in the next you are saying we should not be better than them. I’m a little lost as to what point you were trying to make. Sounds very much like double talking to me.
Your first attempt to make a point is purely meaningless. I have already heard several conservatives basically demanding we start acting in such a way, but instead of really doing anything logical, any Muslim or Arab which might be linked to terrorist in some way should be shot without trail, just to be safe. The Conservatives very much would love to see us sink to that level because it will make them feel better. Conservatives seem to want to do things to make them feel bigger than everyone else, as if they are compensating for something.
As for your second attempt to make appoint, that is what really shows how sad a person you are. Honestly, no I do not know what I would do if my boys’ lives were on the line. I would hope that I would keep a level of personal integrity though and not sink to such a level. To me it would be doing more for my boys by making sure I do not become a monster that could cause greater harm in the future. For if I were to do something that truly was against my character and might leave me greatly scared on the inside, there would be a great change that such a thing would cause permanent issues that would most likely destroy me from the inside. Chances are if I crossed that lien I could no longer be a good father and so would be sacrificing my family in the name of saving it. In the end I would have most likely made matters worse by crossing that line than I would have if I kept my integrity.
That is what I very much see happening in this country. We are making matters worse by looking at crossing the line because it MIGHT help, although chances are slim that it would. If we as a country cross that line it will destroy everything this country stands for all in the name of safety, even though it really is not going to make us any safer. We need to uphold our integrity as a country and make sure we do not sink to the level of the terrorists. It is no going to make us safer. The only people who would defend such things are the weak of character whose childish fears are making it so they are willing to give up everything this country stand for in order to give themselves a false sense of security. A very selfish way to think.
Now I know that last part might have confused some Conservatives. I did talk about integrity and since such a concept is over the heads of most conservatives they will have a very hard time understanding the concept.
Twodog, turn off the TV from time to time and get out and see reality. I already have seen that story over used time and time again. Works great fro entertainment if done right, but I can not believe even you have such a weak grasp of reality to think that such things are common place. Sorry, but that kind of thing rarely if ever happens in real life.

When was the last time you saw U. S. Military Personnel dragiging the body of a terrorist through the streets of a city?. When was the last time you saw U. S. Military Personnel hanging terrorists off an interstate overpass? When was the last time you saw U. S. Military Personnel beheading a terrorist on video?
Let me ask you this. What would you be willing too do to find your missing child? If you had an individual who knew exactly where that child was, and what was being done to her or him, how far would you go to save your childs life? If it was your brother or sister, mother or father, being held by homicidal killers, and had one of those killers tied to a chair, how far would you go, what would you do, to save your their life?
I doubt you have ever been the victim of extreme violence or you might have a slightly different opinion about interrogation methods.

We Had...
...Blair here the other day, talking of a new crime he wants to create - resorting to violence in support of a belief. And I thought - he wants to be careful he doesn't get done for that himself!
This phoney war has given Blair and Bush a license to take away our freedoms, wind the clock back to the dark years of racism, and create shiny new concentration camps when we thought we'd seen the last of them in 1945.
Personally, I don't buy the arguement that anyone of any reach or substance wants to destroy the West. But those who argue for defending it against the 'Islamic menace' fail to see that, on our current trajectory, there'll be nothing worth defending in a few years time.
