Hi, mmm-w ...
I plan to deal with that issue in the very near future.

That's precisely the reason, Moondawg.
Also, I know the answer to your question. And, you would have, too ... had I not accidentally mixed up the "By The Numbers" meant for this one, with the statistics for a post about "emergency rescue" deaths.
I'll correct the error shortly.

I figured out what you meant, Krisles ...
eventually.
I was just wondering how my mother could have seen the photo, that's all.

Didn't know all that about Mansfield and Dean.
Interesting facts. Thanks.

so not funny but still funny... i can not fathom having to explain to a family that their loved one was ran over by either an ambulence or a hearse...

Thank you for your
information. It is common practice for the media to try and sensationalize the facts surrounding celebraties, especially their deaths. After all it's about the last chance they will have to say anything about the person again. I like the stats about the ambulance. Now I'm wondering how many people were killed while in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

I like the title of your post. Even bystanders are unsafe.

I'm teasing you about making someone like me feel even older than I already do! Just playin' with ya! Of course, I'm sure I probably saw that magazine in a pile in the stacks of some museum or somethin'....surely.....

The point is...
there
is a head! (And, quite possibly, a tail, too.)
And, no ... I still don't get what you're trying to tell me.

I had heard many times (and believed) that she was in fact decapitated.
Thanks for straightening that out!

Madame
Wow! It was hard to make heads or tails from that photo! (speaking of tact!) And, did you get my meaning, child?

Thank you, Hemlocker!
Burly is one of my
favorite members. I particularly enjoyed the time he referred to me as a "terrorist", because I
opposed killing innocent people (regardless of the reason).
Which seemed like dubious logic to me. Of course, then again, I'm not as smart as he is.

I mean about when your mom was born, not about sharing the photos..I don't have a weak stomach, having retired from working in bodily injury claims...I've seen heads squished under cars, etc.

Wait a second! My mom wasn't even born when this happened!
At any rate, EXTREMELY graphic photo ... but, look closely: http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/3882/mansfield4da.jpg (copy & paste)

Probably.
When you look at the police photos you can clearly see the head is intact and her hair is curiously dark.

Your mom is remembering the sensational magazine photos...I do, too...they were some of the first I can recall of the "Enquirer" type...it's where I learned what decapitation meant.

Yeah, Krisles, although Mansfield's death was so quick...
it probably wouldn't have made much difference, anyway.
Sadly, my mom still refuses to accept the facts; she insists she saw a photo of the head lying on the road.
However, I went over all the police photos last night and 100% confirmed exactly what I wrote.

Yeah, Silly, Mama Cass was, of course, jewish ...
and never ate pork. People latched onto that story simply because it seemed funny to them that a fat woman should die while eating.

Sorry, Decshak.
It's just like the "Mansfield beheading" myth, these stories tend to take on a life of their own. But, the truth is Dean
wasn't speeding.

The program I saw on Dean's life and death implied recklessness.
I have considered that he might have been drinking, too, but I can't exactly recall the program. I think they said that some of his friends had tried to get him to drive safer, but that is another thing I'm not sure of. Oh. I recall that he might have made a habit of passing other vehicles without assured clear distances among the cars.... I think there is more to this story than your program reported....
