i was thinking about that yesterday. many times i have to say no to my children, because i know what the outcome will be. but, at the same time, i cannot imagine things are going to hurt them and then prepare them. that would not be love. it is a very fine line, between a real consequence and an imagined fear.

What's the difference
between "tough love" and just being tough? It seems to me if you confront someone not to make them feel small or inferior but to build them up or protect them... then it is love. It may not feel like it at the time.. but the purpose and desire is for the good of the other.

that's so true. i spent a lot of my life thinking, 'why should i love, when so much hurt has been doled out?' but, i was only working to my own detriment. slowly, i'm working my way out of the darkness.

i know you've been hurt. your e-mail after i'd left helped me reconsider my actions, and what purpose they served. i decided to return and practice what i preach, and as a result i have grown. i pray for your healing.

insightful post...
I think one of the greatest challenges is receiving in love that which was not given to us in love - the lessons that we ourselves can learn in a challenging situation like that is immeasurable - but not easy...

thank you so much for the lovely gentle post on love and tolerance. I have allowed myself to be so wounded over this intolerance and judgement...i feel deeply distressed, to the point of considering leaving blogit. I know it is my response and my ancient issues, but it doesn't hurt any less. thanks for your continued kindness toward all.
