I'm with ya...and I also buy a lot off Amazon for that reason...I love to follow the chains of "if you like this, you'll like...." -I'm always discovering people, listening to cuts, etc....plus, I'll look at the lists that customers put up and discover people that way...

I hope you enjoy! It's a live recording, and has a lot of talking..but someday that will be really neat to have..hang through all that and the music is so relaxed and I'm sure you'll know a lot of it.

LOL... that's really bad.   I hate going to Sam Goody for that reason.  The people that work there look like they just stepped out of a punk mosh pit... and that's the only music they know.  Pretty sad.  I like the small music stores that are not chains.... those guys know their stuff!

I took him to her tab, showed him; told him she wrote quite a few classic tunes... Your guy not knowing Van Morrison!!! Unfreakin'believable!!!! I mean, these kids are missin' so much.  And you know they know nothing about classical music, have no idea how music is put together....sigh

I LOVED your baby squirrel and tried to get to your comments but this dang laptop kept hangin' up tryin' to download the photos and I never could get all of them downloaded.  My mom had a pet squirrel when she was a little girl and I have them all over my house and in my attic in KC (don't worry, I use humane traps)...anyway, if you're still in contact with this friend, you should get her this cd--it is FANTASTIC!!!!!

I walked into a Hastings several weeks ago and asked

The kid where the Van Morrison was and he looks at me blankly and says, "Uh....I dunno." So I says, "What do you mean you don't know? Don't you work here?" So he says, "Yeah..." here he scratches his ass..."But I can't be expected to know where everything is."

"Well, I don't want to know where everything is...just the Van Morrison," I told him being firm but pleasant. "Um, there's another guy around here somewhere...he might know where it is."

So I says, "Well, shall we wait for this man to find us or shall we go a'lookin' for him on our own."

This is when he got a clue that I wasn't going anywhere till he did his job.

MayB

It is such a classic, they are still putting it out on cd and selling it.  Carole is 62 now, and this "Living Room Tour" is so incredible, May, if you like her you have got to get it.  She always had stage fright, but she is so comfy with the audience on this, so mature and warm and vibrant...it is wonderful to just listen and be one with her. I think "Tapesty" is 30yrs old.

Tut tut. What is the world coming to?

But my God, isn't Tapestry such an old album now? It is still great

You've got to be kidding me! Cultural literacy is definitely on the decline...no doubt about it.  Of course, all you have to do is watch Leno's "Man in the Street" interviews to get a sense of it... or play Trivial Pursuit with a few people... But then, I remember reading a few years ago just the simple fact about the decline in the average persons' vocabulary...it was staggering...I would have thought it would be increasing...nope....decreasing.....and the value of a vocabulary is that is what we think with.

It just gets worse....just wait....hate to tell ya.....worse and worse.....but, thing is, her songs are used in commercials regularly and he would recognize them if he heard them; I thought about humming a few bars but, nahhhhh...

The ignorance of some people can be just shocking, at times.
I was at Philadelphia's central library the other day, and the head of the art department didn't know who Francis Bacon was! I was absolutely mortified!

You need to get this cd if you're a fan at all....she is incredibly relaxed and really giving to her audience on it...cannot recommend it highly enough! Thanks for reading. Oh...and she does all the instruments on Jazzman on it.

Jazzman is my absolute favorite,
but not my only!  She's great...
