OBP....I agree. Mark does a dark form of humor that is amusing.

I love reading Mark2556.. he is a gifted writer. Very graphic and quite funny!! Passion, do you not like his ability to bring color with his comments? Such humor is for entertainment, and laughing is one of the best forms of entertainment! He does it quite well!!

I Have Nothing Personal With Mark...

I don't even know him. I just don't regard his posts with any sort of amusement. Sorry. Anyhow, this really isn't the proper outlet for such discussions.

Dennison...I know Mark personally--
And he's one of the cleverest, most intelligent men I've ever met. Granted, he's got some issues here and there, but he is funny as hell and quite charming.

Passionflower...I Agree...

Spammers generally burn out quickly. (Thankfully!)

And I disagree. Honestly, nothing I've ever seen from Mark has amused me even slightly. Jay Leno's "Headlines" amuse me. Old episodes of Ren and Stimpy amuse me. But Mark? Sorry. Not even close to amusing.

OBP...

I think that's the kernal of this discussion. I actually agree with you 100% that this is a writer's forum and a writer posting substantial literature every 15 minutes would impress me immensely. Blogit, however, has included a prohibition against spamming in their Conduct Policy and I was wondering if posting one-line blurbs every 60 seconds (the way Shoie does) fits the definition of spamming? What is spamming? Why should Blogit generate a prohibition against spamming if they won't define spamming nor enforse their own prohibition?

Dennison...Normally these people who do this sort of thing

Will go away on their own...They burn out quickly.

As for Mark's Amazing Comic Talents, at least he keeps us amused.

I am not in agreement with you, this is a forum for writing. Who cares if someone has the time to post every 15 minutes, more power to them!!

Hemlocker...

I don't post just to get read. I write on topics because I find them interesting. I really don't worry too much about how many people read my stuff but I do concern myself with the opportunity for cultivating new readers. Shoie's spamming inhibits that opportunity by constantly bumping the New Posts down with insipid one-liners. As for the rankings, I don't concern myself with where others rank on Blogit. I barely check my own ranking.

I'm not sure Blogit is too much better than a chat room. Every time I feel like posting something beyond light fare, it hardly gets read, no less commented upon. As for shoie, why isn't she number 1? Hemlocker

I Really Don't Know Why Mark Wastes His Vast...

comic talent on us. We're just mere bloggers and, yet, he graces us with his wit and wisdom. I feel so privileged.

I know we'll see his name in lights someday! I just know it!

Back Into Defenses?

You're kidding, right? First I'd have to feel threatened before I felt a need for defenses. I have some sad news for you, Mark, you're irrelevant sniping doesn't threaten me in the least. I mean, c'mon, you're trying to make an issue out of a Goodbye post from two months ago and about daily dinner menus in the "writing" section. (Oh my word!)

Yes...check into Betty Ford soonest. You'll feel better once you do.

DM ~ You kill me!

Haha....you back into more defenses than Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf!  I coulda sworn you mentioned the dangers of potential new members being turned off by posts that don't reach Blogit's lofty goals.  AND I coulda sworn you mentioned your opposition to one-liner posts.  Damn, I have GOT to get back to Betty Ford.

No, I don't care to challenge you any more...my stomach hurts too much!  Best of luck on the new crusade.

Mark...

In fairness, how often do I post my dinner menus? Once a week? Once an hour? Once every minute? Or do I post them once a minute?

And do you really need to stoop to criticizing that my dinner menus appear in the Writing Category? How feeble is your stance at this point?

I never expressed any lofty goals other than consideration for my fellow bloggers as they hope to build a readership.

As for my Goodbye post. I left Blogit for a month and didn't expect to return until the fall. My schedule changed and I had an opportunity to return sooner...just to chat with intelligent, capable people like you.

Care to further challenge me on things completely unrelated to spamming one-liners? Maybe you disapprove of the number of toilets in my home? Or you don't like the font I'm using? Or you don't like that I have cats rather than dogs? How absurd would you like to get, Mark?

Look, Blogit has reasons for including a prohibition against spamming in their Conduct Policy. I didn't write the policy so I refuse to defend it against your irrelevant sarcasm. If you don't like Blogit's policies or you don't like my highlighting a clear violation of the Conduct Policy then say so. But don't start including absurd points about a post I made two months ago...or the fact that you think my dinner menus don't belong in the writing section. Address those concerns in my blogs...not here.

At least try to discuss like an adult.

DM ~ Yes, it is odd.

I even defend your right to post dinner menus in the "On Writing" section, as well as your own, one-word post that consists of "Goodbye", or your four-line post on steak...post them every 30 seconds if you wish.  Whether they reach the lofty goals you mention doesn't really matter at times, no?

Mark...

I can only direct your attention to the paragraph in Blogit's Conduct Policy that prohibits spamming. Shaycom obviously had something in mind with such a clear prohibition against "numerous" posts. If Shaycom wants to put a limit on the number of posts one can send out in a ten minute span...then so be it. You'll just have to live with that absurdity or move on. Either way, you can thank incosiderate bloggers like Shoie for any consequences arising from posting one-liners every 60 seconds.

As far as I know, Shoie is spamming in the eyes of several Blogit subscribers.

As for the gender of a spammer, I really don't care. Somebody commented to me that Shoie is a she...I trusted that comment. Why that's so curious to you, I don't know. I don't care.

As for you expressing your opinion on the topic, I never said you couldn't. And I never said I wouldn't give a reasoned response to anyone's opinion. I think we're all entitled to as much.

Funny, for this notion of Shoie's spamming to be such a minor problem, you sure do express a deep interest in defending their right to spam. Odd, that.

Like I've said, I'll leave the policing up to Blogit. They can determine whether or not Shoie's repeated one-liners violate their own conduct policy. Quite frankly, though, I didn't mind bringing it to Blogit's attention. It's inconsiderate, counter-productive, and unfair to other bloggers. You can't see it that way. I have no problem with that.

OK, Lemme rephrase ~

This is not a problem.  What's next, limits on minimal times between posts or minimum word counts in content?  Just because you don't care for how many times shoi (he's a 60 year-old man, so why you call him "she" is cuious) posts doesn't make it an issue.

The Featured Blogs changes 1,440 times a day.  You asked if other members are in agreement with your position.  I'm not.

Not All Problems...

need to be monumental in order to deserve our attention.

In this case, if every Blogit subscriber posted 2-line blurbs every 60 seconds then Blogit would suddenly be no better than a Yahoo chat room and the comments section would serve no purpose. Hopefully, the people at Shaycom realize this and will protect their investment from the mediocrity of one-liners. After all, it's hard to advertise for new writers when your product doesn't match the lofty and appealing claims in your recruiting campaign.
