i'm thinking of another case. it was twenty-something years ago. a woman picked up two young men who needed help. they kidnapped her and raped her. as she was getting ready to be killed she said,'i forgive you and God does too.' they shot her. her death brought the killer and the victim's daugter and mother together. the man openly wept, and never got over the love she had for him, even as he attacked her. the mother and daughter appeared awe-struck as he told them the story. the mother looked at her grand-daughter and said,'i told you she was that way. i told you! it was very poignant.

i think you might have missed the point. Ashley smith is alive today becaues she chose the path of love...now she didn't have alot of choices available, like shooting him, but her mercy was sincere and born of her own humanness....it was a real gift, to the entire world if you ask me. very powerful message in that one.

i think it's funny that we think that those who use the most will power are the most powerful. if you watch them, though, they never rest. they're paranoid and defensive. they're weak and insecure. they might hold a temporary grip over others, but it is tenuous at best.

"defenselessness is power"
if any of us would like to see the truth of this in action thru faith and love they need look no further than the Ashley Smith story...she did not judge, she showed a murderer the face of love and mercy and forgiveness , she gave him hope that his life could still have purpose and meaning....how many of us who spout religion and scripture could sit in the presence of God...and truly see God in the face of the other under those circumstances. Most would be passing pretty big judgements and callling for his death.

to the false self, acceptance is destruction and death. but true acceptance is about facing the truth within ourselves, and thus ceasing the insane desire to see fault in others.

Acceptance is distruction. It signifies the dead end at the end of a road. It kills your creativity, your ability, and your passion. One mustn't always be desolate and accepting. It'd be the death of progress.
