bettyboop1967, yes I am looking at how to reduce pressure in my life

Krisles, we shouldn't tease Timmy too much about this

Under Pressure

Any pressure for me to read, write, and comment on Blogit is self-imposed.  I have a life outside of this place, as do most of you.  Some people have way too much vested in here and are needy for attention.  Of course we all want to be heard (read), but receiving comments from readers should be viewed as icing on the cake.  No one wants to be fussed at or pressured.  I agree with you that we get enough of that from our jobs, bills, and families.

I had just given Timmy a tease that he was being ridiculous with his post..waiting for him to figure out what I was scolding him about..when you wrote your excellent comment spelling it out to him...his salesman competitive, let me see the figures nature just gets the best of him; I was so glad to see your comment and he has seen the light thanks to your wise counsel.  I either read and enrich myself, commenting when I have the time and/or inclination...or read and frantically comment to make sure I enrich some ranking system?...please--I'm not on here for that; my life has other things far more important in it.  I appreciate any comments that people take their precious time to leave; mainly, I appreciate their taking precious time to read.  You do the same...let's all keep it real...that's my comment.  Great post...that's also my comment.

I think the question is not "why do we have to conform"

but "Why do some people have to use it as a brickbat?".

I've done that in the past, and if things are bad enough I'll do it again, but as the BN, er, Blogit has grown to its present size, there's much more room for people to be as silly as they want and it will not affect bloggers who don't want to read it. Before, when it was so much smaller, one idiot could turn off many others; now, not so easy, and so many more voices to tell him/her to cool it.

May, I've been twice already and not commented, which is so apt, I think. First time I was off to get the curry. Second time, Sam was shouting me to come and drink my wine. Which I did, of course. It was my wife. And it was wine.

Reciprocation. It's an odd word. And it's an odd act. It's a word that smacks of immediacy, and between friends that immediacy of response is not required. There's no counting, no recriminations, no bile.

No need to conform. Not ever. Unless you want to.

OK, that'll be 50 cents in the kitty, no more of that!!

MayB,
Just let it go. As some of these comments already mentioned, Blogit is a game. It's a hobby. If you read something you feel like commenting on, do so, if you don't, don't. You're not a bad person. Nothing you do or say on Blogit is going to make or break you in life. Those bloggers out there begging for comments just don't get that. Don't comment just to seek the approval of others!

I totally understand and am with you here.
I get bummed when I don't get comments, but I don't like obligatory ones either.  Sometimes my choices are either to write or to read....or if I read I don't have time to comment.  Sometimes it's for the reasons you mentioned or for my own health reasons.  I feel bad when I can't keep up reading as it is.  Good post. :)

Excellent post, and very well said. I have lots of time now, but I remember
when my sons were children and I worked...There was never enough time. Be yourself! on your own terms.

Congrats on your win for the answer of sundial.

May,

I have, after many trials and trivulations, developed a perfect philosophy on matters such as this.  If Blogit tells you what to do, quit and stop giving them your money.  If anyone else tells you how to conform, ignore them--with the possible exception of calling them a few ripe names.

You will find that said methodology is quite effective in eliminating any problems that you might have in this area.  Try it and you will see.   JJ

MayB I could not agree more, I think you know how I feel on this

#1 I am not a big commentor

#2 If you read fine, I thank you, if you don't OK no problem, not everyone likes certain subject matter

#3 if you comment fine, if not I will not die

#4 I read a lot of posts but I don't have time to sooth everyones silly ass ego by commenting, grow up boys and girls this is Blogit, NOT 1st grade Dick and goddam Jane...........................and by the way, Spot the dog just bought it by getting hit by a truck.........please don't cry, just write another post.

There is no protocol that I am aware of. Sometimes we have more time than others. A couple of my favorites only post every other week, I wait for those to read. Mostly I think we don't have 24/7 to sit in front of the computer. If we do, then we don't have a heck of a lot going on in real life. Don't worry about such silly issues as comments, enjoy your reading and writing!

Once again, you are right........it should be enough that you stopped by. I know I was one that ranted and raved about comments, until you made the point clear. It's just nice to know who stops by, I for one try to return the click. We know when someone reads us because the counter goes up........maybe if we could figure out a way for it to show who clicked.

I don't comment on a lot of things either. YOu shouldn't feel like you have to.

I know it's hard to keep up with everybody. I currently have all day, and still don't get around to commenting on everyone I should. Honestly MayB, I would rather have you stick around, posting, and doing what you're doing now instead of giving up based on the delusion that you're a bad blogger. You're not!!

Whew!
Don't worry about being attacked in this comments section...See, I get all nauseated when I read comments like the one from Quirky. It makes me uneasy, and I don't like that feeling. This is why I am leaving. I really enjoyed reading your posts and will continue to do so until my subscription runs out. Bye! Thanks for your comment.

There are times when
we all comment less than at other times. I find too that I read posts and I can't find anything to add by way of a comment.

cool post...
well, i'm not doing the blogit thing for the clicks...i do write out of passion...of course, i enjoy having readers and comments, but what i like most is writing on a daily basis:)

MayB...BooHoo...Here's a kleenex for your sobbing.....teehee...
I agree, I agree, I agree, Ms. MayB. When did you get so smart?! Blogit is a great vehicle to transport one's writing, however, it's also a game. And many times, it's impossible to remain a real player on here. I cannot possibly answer and read everybody's blog. There are some highly-rated writers who will read me every other day, which is fine. I try to do the same to them. But it gets exhausting. I truly try to leave a comment about their writing skills, and the sensitivity of the post, etc. Sometimes I comment all silly and dirty, though...

I am thankful for 'clicks'
I see the comments as occasional icing on the cake, but if I see that readers are clicking on my blogs I am happy.  take care!

I maintain that the clicker counter isn't such a positive thing!
It sounds like it builds too much stress with some bloggers...I say git rid of it!  While I comment on most that I read, I do also 'give up' on some blogs...I'm sure everyone is the same that way.

I only comment on maybe a quarter
(if that) of the blogs I read. Some I have nothing to say, others I didn't enjoy the blog - and who wants a comment like that? and some I just get distracted by the kids or my REAL life and don't get the comment written down.

Does that make me a bad blogger too?

Christmas Card List?

Ha! I scoff at the very notion!

Besides, you haven't commented on my globs enough. No Christmas card for you!
