Also, those behind that attacks, not the ones who carried it out, are very much cowards. They stage an attack against innocents and keep themselves well hidden away for it. That is as cowardly as it gets. They are fighting their war by throwing away other people's lives all the while not willing to risk their lives at all. I think that was who I was thinking of when I wrote that part.

Actually it is cowardly in the sense that they are going to get out of having to face justice for their crimes. All in all death is a much more cowardly way out a lot of times than living. It all depend on the situation. I can point to the Columbine Shooting here to back that up. They took their own lives instead of having to face the legal system because they knew they were screwed. They took a cowardly way out in the end because it was easy and they knew they were dead anyway. Suicide bombers and such are not brave people.

Where in my post did I even imply that the terrorists were not our enemies? Unless you wish to say that all Muslims and Arabs are terrorists or that all terrorists are Arabs and Muslims. I am not sure if you understood what I was saying here. I can promise you I am far from ignorant here.

Okay, yes it was Arab Muslims who attacked us on 9/11. No one is denying that. No one is saying it was not. The point of the post is that there are those out there who wish to make all Arabs and all Muslims to be the enemy. They are not. We can not go and blame such a thing on Muslims in general. But since Bush has gone and let the real enemies go, people need to find someone not direct their fear towards. They go and turn that fear into hate for Muslims and Arabs in general and so wish to promote racism and hate towards those groups and encourage the very un-Constitutional concept of racial profiling. If one were to look at the facts we attack ourselves more than Arabs or Muslims do. Racial profiling is not going to do anything to keep us safer from attacks.

iT RESEMBLES gEORGE ORWELL'S 1984
I think I posted on this . . .
In the novel, You maintain support of a dictatorship that otherwise would be on shaky ground, by creating enemies, and are constantly at war with one or another -- and the news media, being pretty well controlled by the government, reports so that people think they have to support the government ("United we stand.")
Comunist China has had an anti-American stance for less than that -- and can be more of a threat (has ICBM's pointed at us -- threatened to engage our fleet if we protect Taiwan) -- but we don't make them into an enemy -- basically because we are buying Chinese goods at bargain prices from Wal-Mart.
This is a hypocritical nation.

You know, as soon as I started to read the other comment, I knew it was from twodog. He is as predictable as Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter and the Wall Street Journal's editorial staff. However, I must repeat what has been said before: I don't think cowards can muster the time, the determination, and the focus to put together a plan like 9/11, and then forfeit their lives in carrying it out. Whatever else those people were, they were not cowards. As for conservatives being frightened children, I agree, but I also think we all are frightened children in these times, and that includes the muslims in Britain, in this country and in every Western country. I am frightened of what my government is doing in the name of America, twodog notwithstanding. Hemlocker

There is a well-made documentary series by the BBC that has very similar lines to your theory, called The Power of Nightmares. Something you might want to look up :)

A well written post, the only problem, you are totally ignorant of terrorism, terrorists, and radical Islam. You, like many, refuse to do the research. Radical Islam is hundreds of years old, over eight hundred and began in the AD 1200's. It has been the phlosophy of the radical Islamic element to kill anyone who doesn't believe as they do. Now you can blame the situation on childish conservatives all you want, but the facts pre-date this country by six hundred years. It is amazing to me you want to blame the United States, freedom, for terrorist hate. Remember this, if in fact the terrorist win this war, your freedom to blame, to speak freely, to live as you wish, will end, or, you will be killed. If you don't believe it, do the research necessary to learn the truth.
