blackcat30 -- co-existence is a worthy goal but may never become a reality
within prevailing mindsets. It seems the world religions are pulling us further away from this one possibility.

I don't believe that the world needs one religion to take over.  What it needs is for the existing religions to coexist with tolerance and acceptance, not hatred and envy.  That's the goal I'd be seeking... if I were looking for it... which I'm not.

Numinous -- I agree and it becomes obvious that the state of modern day
religion is becoming completely disfunctional.

I see religions as something that people do to, one; control each other and gain power over each other, and two; something they do to distract themselves from more important issues that they don't want to have to deal with. And, three; it gives them a way to dodge responsibility for their actions. (either God or the devil made them do it) As long as people refuse to accept that they are the creators of their own lives, they will fail.

Gome -
Trust your true self. Act with love. Be humble. This is my religion.

ZenLady05 -- right on

If there was one thing that shocked me when I first came to Blogit it was the fundamentalist revival currently taking place in continental USA.  One small segment of the world's populace on its' own unique path that can't possibly lead to anywhere good.

I Couldn't Agree With You More.......

I too feel that all religion has done is divide us.  I have been surprised by just how many people on Blogit are willing to throw their bibles at my feet (before they strike a match).

I love Walt Whitman, not so much his poetry but, the man that wrote these words:

"There will soon be no more priests.  Their work is done. Every man shall be his own priest."

Christ........have we got a LONG way to go.
