Altmuslim,

Damon Leigh recommended this essay to me because he thought I had misunderstood Islam. I am glad he recommended this. This is a very informative and edifying essay. I just wish that those tempted to join militant-terrorist groups would take heed of it.

AltMuslim,
This was a great link-up from a post that espouses the hatred of Muslims based on alleged passage in the Quran (I use the familar spelling) that you tried to unravel. I do appreciate the clarity of your writing! It was very informative! But, I hate to disappoint you! If it were not the "passages" it would be some other motivating force behind the "White Man's" insanity! What was it about Vietnam, The Sudan, Niger, Somolia, Haiti, Cuba, Panama, Grenada, etc.? He is a master at creating diversion when his madness becomes evident! It is time for the "Brown Race" to wake-up and start "governing themselves"!

I very much appreciated reading this post.
Though I found it much too long for most bloggers to latch on and keep reading. Great points indeed!

we've got certain bloggers here who don't seem to understand

here's one:

"I really do need to slow down a little and include all my thougts into one comment, and make sure it's accurate. However, the post you linked in you comment is interesting in that, it ignores the perversion of the text, just as radical Christians pervet the text in the Bible to justify their actions. I have never said, in any post, all Muslim folks are involved in a jihad against non-Muslim or secular Muslim's. If you can accept the wrong doing of radical Christians, then it follows, you must accept the wrong doing of radical Islamist.

However, one concept must be considered. As stated by radical Islamic elements, the current jihad is considered defensive as spelled out by the Muslim legal philosopher Taqi al-Din Ahmad Ibn Taymiyya (1263-1328) who delcared a ruler who fails to enforce the shari'a rigorously (secular Muslim's) in all aspects, including the conduct of jihad is insufficiently Muslim and open to attack."

It was long and a bit tedious to read, but very important and necessary. I fear that too many Americans whose minds are made up do not have an attention span long enough to grasp what you are saying. Thanks. Hemlocker

Excellent post. Unfortunately it will not suit some to read it.

Thank God...
...or Allah for a voice of sense and reason and deep knowledge in a sea of fluff and spin and nasty incriminations against Islam.

Empty Handed Painter sent me here. I'm bookmarking this post for future reference, because there are some here who will miss it.

Thank you - an enormously valuable post.

Thanks!
For a well-informed description of the contextual background that is normally missing when this issue is discussed.

thank you for this post... so many people use holy books to make whatever point they wish to make... taking it all out of context - and making it say what they want to say... may God forgive me for looking to these books to tell me how to love instead of make war, if I am mistaken...
