Apparently they are also rip-snorting atheists too.

Marshallengraved -- no problem - you may want to do a few other things as
well if you have had your computer exposed without security for any length of time. The first stop should be Trend Micro's "House Call" free virus scan and fix up. Click Here   House Call is very good but no anti-virus or anti-spyware program gets them all. If your computer needs more "cleaning" let me know.

empty_handed_painter -- we had that security program on one of our other
computers and there is nothing wrong with it other than the fact that the Safety Net program is free for the first year. A few years back Zone Alarm had a bad issue of a a software update, it almost did them in and certainly hurt them for awhile. I think Norton (Symantec) is going through much the same thing right now. Look for Macafee and others to gain market share from these circumstances.

Gubby -- right on
I particularly liked this line: "Maybe sometime people could try practicing their right to shut up?"

Marshallengraved -- I went through exactly the same thing with the same
product. Then Like a fool I ordered a new copy of Norton Antivirus 2005 to have it completely re-write all of the protection rules on my computer and render my Outlook Express unusable. Norton has a fix if you have the time and patience but I think it's pretty sad when you have to take a few hours to fix a new product so I completely un-installed Norton. There is an exceptional anti virus program by NetVeda called "Safety Net" It's a one year free trial and I find it superior to Norton. It can be found: CLICK HERE  ...It's tough to turn your back on a software program that you have paid for but I can speak for the security of Safety Net. The other choice is Zone Alarm by Zone Labs. I gave that program a trial but found that it was very constrictive in a free surfing environment. Norton currently has some problems that they seem unable or unwilling to address, instead passing on the troubleshooting to the end user. Who has time for that? So I guess I'm saying that you should not waste too much time trying to re-install your older Norton when there are better, more user friendly alternatives.   My Norton install CD has now met the same fate as my Donny and Marie records. Hope this helps.

sorry, it has nothing to do with this topic, but...

avant garde advised me to tell you about my problem, because he thinks you might be able to help me:

I really need your help...I had a serious problem with Norton 2004 today...it refused to analyze my files completely and i had an error message telling me i should suppress Norton and then re-install it...which i actually did...now my computer refuses to install the CD, no matter if i use autorun or if i click on the CD...

I don't know what to do...i had to install an anti virus from the net called avast (i have no idea if it is a real good anti virus or not...) in the meantime.

What can i do about Norton? is my Norton Cd lost forever? Do i have to buy another one?

Any advice would be highly appreciated...

Many thanks in advance:)

Isa

In most countries that guy would be locked away in the loony bin that he merits. Or at the very least ignored. I think you Americans are taking the right to free speech too far - just because you have the right to say something doesn't anyone wants to hear it. Maybe sometime people could try practicing their right to shut up?

empty_handed_painter - the key is personal responsibility
and I have to agree that it is sorely lacking . Especially as an instilled quality amongst our societies' young.

posted by gomedome on July 25, 2005 at 8:05 PM | link to this | reply

people don't want to take responsibility for their actions
they want to personify good and evil and say "The devil made me do it."
or . . . "God is leading me."
all existence, heaven and hell is within each of us.
we have to struggle against ourselves.
