Kathu,
To each his own. An actually, I don't miss pop up adds either. Now those are annoying.  Thanks for visiting!

Actually, I like the lack of ads... and pop-up notices. And I don't think there could be anything greener than posting on blogit!

Donaldoji, no problem....

I'm sure one or the other will be of some help to you.

word.smith - thanks very much for the info. I popped...
over and peeked at the sites and will go back for a closer look.

TIMMY

I guess it's a case of different strokes for different folks. I'm not missing the ads, but for whatever reason, the lack of them suddenly caught my attention.

word
This is the cable of writing sites........I kind of like not having any commercials

Argus, the response to constructive
activity here is not always positive. I suppose it's a matter of deciding to try to the bitter end, move on or have membership elsewhere alongside Blogit.

Katray,

I'm wishing you success with finishing up those projects too and getting them submitted and yes, it definitely serves Blogit's interest not to have any form of advertising - especially as it concerns networks that might actually encourage writing and critiquing.    Keep working on those submissions.

Sassy,
That's what I'm thinking. It suddenly became very obvious to me that no form of advertising is done here. If nothing else reciprocal links help to bring traffic. And that's the people, people who value the uniqueness that is Blogit are the ones who stay. The new people really don't stick around for long these days. Pity.

Good question, word
After my 'best posts' experience, I'm very tempted to fold my little tent and move on.

Hi Word
I guess some bloggers like commercial free space and I'm sure Blogit has a self interest in keeping it that way. I can see the advantages and disadvantages. I've thought about joining other sites to write, then I think why not spend that time working on submitting to contests, magazines, etc. I'm loving my Writer's Digest; getting three short stories polished up to send in to some places they recommend. Good luck on your efforts.

I have wondered about that
Many other writing sites offer links to other sites. You would think that Blogit would want other sites to advertise if for nothing more then just for traffic purposes. I don't think they want to lose their regular bloggers though, because if you haven't noticed lately, many newcomers just don't hang around for very long.

Donaldoji,

Those I  think of right off the bat are www.writing.com and www.fanstory.com  I have not tried fanstory, but there is a free reading membership -  so you can get a feel of  the place. Writing.com has free membership as well as paying membership.

MayB, it just seems a little odd to me that
they advertise all over the place and yet their 'facility' is closed to everybody else.

IS there a greener pasture somewhere? I'd like to know...
if you've come across one. Greener, I mean, in the sense of a better place to air one's work, with a chance for more exposure? You used the term "writing sites," I think. I love Blogit, but I'm not married to it. If I could find another good site I wouldn't necessarily leave Blogit. I'd simply join another one. Or two, or three. The more the merrier!

I am happy there is no advertising here otherwise it would be like everywhere else. It is nice that the writing or blogging is the "the thing". To me that is the "undesirable"
