It's not the other cats that are the problem..it's the people who poison or do worse to them to control them..my mother spends thousands annually to feed and fix those who breed in her back yard she can trap and then tag. And she is actually a dog person! The cats are such a nuisance in the town..actually wandering on the sidewalks and merchants are up in arms with animal control people to increase "catches". My mother spends the hot months in NM and her neighbor got in the habit of feeding them in Mama's backyard which is how it became a nursery of sorts...my two inside cats, Bliss and Charm, are from a litter born there...as is Max...and several others have come from there. The throat injury is an old one and was seen to by a vet...we have all things taken care of that way. Mama picks scorpions up on paper from her sink and takes them outside versus turning on the water to rinse them down...all life is sacred to here and the only thing she will kill are the wasps I am terrified of!!

Actually feral cats are good to each other.
They just don't trust people, but they build rather large and loving communities. Please get some attention to that poor dear if she's been bitten in the throat so infection doesn't set in. I feel sad for her not getting much love and attention....she missed you, she must like people a great deal. It sounds like a lovely place to be...I bet you are glad to be back. :)

Are you moved?! Moving?! I was just thinking about you!!! I posted this and then had to do so much editing...I wish you could sit and swing because I bet you are exhausted if you are anywhere in the process...I didn't even look at you today because I am so behind and didn't see you anywhere and now my eye is twitching and I was just about to turn in...see, I'm blathering...tell me...
