Hmmm...
I think about the Holy Spirit trying to lead us where God wants us to go as a "still, small voice" or a "whisper." Then there is our conscience (hopefully we have one) which reminds us when we have crossed a line or are contemplating crossing a line we had promised ourselves we wouldn't cross. I'm not sure why, but I consider these two different. One is from God to us. The other is us talking to ourselves.
