another good post and points!
I think it just added to the previous post rather than detract from what you had to say.

MayB, in so be it my own life experiences and opinions, I hereby quote the resurrected Christ... "Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world." Words of comfort to me on another day of London's bombings... Carolyn's Faith Spilled Out... good to read you again, I've been away from my desk.

I intend to avoid the political ones althogether, otherwise I'll end up typing "it's not about the oil," or something of that ilk on every single one.

My thought is,
I think, similar to yours. I want to read good posts. I don't really care what they are about, I just want them to be well written. If they are about something like politics then I also want them to be factual. I don't think that is too much to ask...

I knew what you meant...
and I agree whole-heartedly. People should accept responsibilty and be accountable for what they put out in the writing world. Also, should it become necessary, it's nice to be able to defend (with fact) the ideas we put forth for public consumption.

MayB, Though my post is entitled Fiction At Its Finest... it amazes me how many people think I'm writing facts. Maybe that's good... art imitating reality.

With no checks and balances, it's possible to write anything and portray it as fact. We should closely examine everything we read, especially a blog. The responsibility ultimately falls on the reader to determine what's what. Let the buyer beware.

MayB good points, when I write it is a combination
at times of opinion and commentary. If I use a news source, I note it. I try very hard to provide facts based on truth and get my quotes from reliable sources. I was introduced to "creative non-fiction" a few years ago and try to write that way but I would like to learn more about that style of writing. I get a little gonzo at times.

I've never let others dictate what I write...but then you knew that, didn't you? I can't believe that
you are even writing about bloggers...lol.

its a great post and i didn't interpret your last post as anything other then fact..... this is a place to creatively write and if you are merely copying down what one journalist has written or reporter has spoken then why waste a readers time????

Very good post, MayB.
I went to the London School of Journalism, but decided early on that I didn't really want to spend the energy. I think there was a time that I would have been a good investigative journalist (fools rush in where angels fear to tread) but after a while, I realized the flack wasn't something I wanted to live with.
Also, I think I'm more storyteller, like to build up to the story, instead of the starting everything with a wham and winding down.

Nothing second rate about this post. You are simply practising as you preached and voicing your opinions!

Mayb, thank you for this. As a pre-professional website, I think it's impo
-rtant for us to be able to expressourselves as often as we can, especially when the topic is polarized and energized. There are still people here who think that Iraq is just another Vietnam. I mean, we must get the word out!
