Ah, yes....
Nothing like a good glass of "whine" to wash down all that cheese...that's what I always say!

As if you're slightly retarded or something.....

Ariala, it is a good thing that my "friend" doesn't blog otherwise she would dominate. She didn't really know what a blog was.

Ca88andra, don't worry. You don't strike me as someone who must speak at every turn

UsualSuspect, does my "tone" come through? The tone I would prefer is that of telling this over a glass of w(h)ine! ;-)

I'm loving reliving these moments with you...even if your "tone: of typing is a little on the negative side....lol.

I enjoyed this and smiled at the ending. Then I started thinking about my voice...

Hey QuirkyAlone, thanks. I couldn't believe the voice book thing.

You know what I dislike even more word.smith? It is when people read aloud to me what I am intending to read myself

posted by Azur on July 16, 2005 at 6:32 PM | link to this | reply

That's one of my biggest pet peeves.

I am trying to read and someone else keeps interrupting with conversation, as if the book is invisible.

You know, I have someone who criticizes me subtly and not so subtly. I now have to be careful not to over-analyze, just in case I cause a stink about something she really didn't mean.

I'm betting that at some point you were wanting to scream for all you were worth.

Too funny!!

This is hilarious--not the experience mind you...but your telling of it. Some people are just very uncomfortable with silence. I once flew on a commercial flight with an acquaintance who has the most annoying, loud, obnoxious sounding voice in the entire world, and she also never shuts up. People were turning around in their seats from many, many rows ahead to glare at her! I also tried to read to no avail...so I can relate!

Just read your 3 latest posts
You are quite a writer and not in the least bit mean.  We all need to vent, right?  Blogit is a very safe way to do that!  Love, GG

Malcolm, yes and not silver-tongued

Silence is golden
but some people will only ever get the silver.

MayB

I don't think you were mean.  You needed to vent and you did it in a way that can never hurt this person.  I also think she was less than considerate of you.

Decshak, I know ideal companions but alas we all lead busy lives

posted by Azur on July 16, 2005 at 2:40 PM | link to this | reply

Yes. Sadly, some people don't know when to shut up.
But one cannot always find the perfect travelling companion, n'est pas?

GinnieB, sadly non. It is mean of me to be so critical as I have only myself to blame for inviting her

posted by Azur on July 16, 2005 at 1:52 PM | link to this | reply

So MayB...
..you are in France right now?  I treasure my 'quiet times' as I'm sure you do as well!  What a pain to be with someone who feels the need to clog every moment with talk!  They must think that a pause in the chatter means it's important to fill that up!  Ugh!  Earplugs maybe?

More travels with "that" friend. An alert for girly-girl, ca88andra, kingmi, word.smith, krisles, military_wife, symphony, usualsuspect, merryanne, terpgirl30, majroj (although I know better than to have to tell you), dear Benzinha (who would be the ideal travel companion were we not so similar), Medusanextdoor, cynthia, quirkyalone (who wouldn't take the kitchen sink for a walk in the country), archiew. I put out this comment because you all enjoyed previous installments

MayB, I have known many like your friend...they never quite know when to
shut up and enjoy the moment, the scenery or just being...enjoy your travels.
