Looking forward to your next entry
Just dropped by to encourage you to write a bit, P. O. There are a lot of people who find your wit very endearing. Hope to see you update soon.

Madame P.O.,
Meaningful correspondence can be a great help to those in need. Thanks for your feedback. My blog has been updated for further clarity.

Benny-the-door...
I think you might have given this a little too much thought.

P.S. Way to double post!

An exaggeration but a fair point i'm sure

However i'd prefer rehabilitation to blind vengeance, when that only serves to make the prisoner bitter and alienated thus more likely to harm people when returned to society.  If the point of prison is to protect the community, all p[risoners should either be locked up until they die, or they should be rehabilitated.  A middle way of outright punishment (loss of liberty is worst punishment a human can endure anyway) for vengeful reasons doesn't say very much about society and will ultimately harm society.  If a thirst for revenge is more important than a safer society then so be it.

Churchill once said "you can judge how civilised a society is by how it treats its prisoners."

Well, anthony1wiley,
at least your country's health care system is light years ahead of ours (or, so I've been told).

Thank you for the kind words.

Madame P.O.
Cher Madame, you have made my day. lol I am so happy I got off my fat eyes and went searching for ya. Was like finding a jewel. We got the same system up here in Canuckland.

I so agree, Joe Love!
Excellent and insightful observation!

Yikes, SillySoul!
Even I wouldn't recommend anyone joining a "prison pen pal" service.

When I was 14, I corresponded with a girl from Germany. However, sadly, the communication gap proved too hard to overcome. Probably be much easier now.

No offense taken, Hemlocker.
I will say that I, personally, am always pleased when strong, opinionated women make their voices heard. Even, someone like Ann Coulter.

And, no, I am definitely not married. Madamoiselle, huh? Has a certain ring to it, I suppose.

That's a further evolution of the revolving door prison system indeed
-expecting a prisoner who received advice to give advice

your time served...

was def. well spent. Thanks for visiting my white Buick story -- considering the range and depth of your imagination, I'm pleased that I could surprise you even a little bit. I'm looking forward to visiting you again, and many other of your regular readers are my faves, as well. Thanks for the fun.

What an absolutely inspirational letter, Madame!
It brought tears to my eyes! It just goes to show how paranoid parents make our children these days! Why SHOULD we automatically assume that a stranger offering candy to children is a BAD thing!!

Hmmm
For a while I ran a non profit organation for pen pal/ advice to prisoner, some of the letter and photo's were quite intresting. ~Silly

madame
I read your "about me" page. I don't have one for reasons obvious to me, if no one else. I think you are a misnomer, however; unless you are married (at the tender age of 20), you should be madamoiselle. Hemlocker

You are a serious threat to the ascendancy of Ann Coulter. I mean that with respect. Hemlocker

um, yes?

Madame P.O.
This is a serious topic! And the questions will never get answered! Because, once you cause "wanton" harm to another human being! Does your obligation to humankind end?

I had not seen "Timmy Writes Home From Scout Camp"
(Krisles Can't Help But Think Too Much 7/9/05). I suspect I missed it because it was posted on a weekend.

It is excellent. I especially love how "Timmy" maintains the same casual, "matter-of-fact" tone, even when slipping the "payoff" sentence in. One of the real struggles for humor writers is resisting the natural tendency to "announce the jokes".

Well, I am so honored to be on that list...and I do the same thing...but you could sure never look stupid! Just the name alone is a hoot!!

Oh, no, Krisles,
there's a list of people I try to read every day (which includes you and blackcat). Often, I don't leave comments because, to be perfectly honest, I can't think of anything clever to say. And, I so fear looking "all stupid".

Madame P.O.
Hysterical....I love this kind of humor and you are so creative.  I don't know if you always leave comments but suspect you would have if you read my 7/9 EE blog because it a letter from scout camp kinda like along this humor line(not my own -I'm not nearly this creative!)..you might go read it if you run out of laughing at yourself! Thanks so much for this. I do love social commentary wrapped in humor..will be sharing this one.

Well, thanks for the cheap "comments" bump! If only obtaining clicks were so easy.

LOL.... i am all for redemption but wow... not in that case. i can't even imagine... very funny stuff though! esp. in regards to his voices changing their tune... nice.... lol, and the fruit basket. the more i think about it the more i laugh so i must deter my thoughts on to that of a more depressing topic.
