I’m going to have to agree with everyone here, Mia. I’ve had friends like this. Bad news bears. The second another opportunity comes along he’ll jump on it. Literally. While you’re amazing and wonderful and awesome, he mainly wants to be with you because he can’t. The sooner you forget about him, the happier you’ll be.
Another thing, this guy probably has some experience in this sort of situation. His little “I’m not going to contact you again” thing is all part of his plan. It’s possibly an attempt to feign some profound emotional experience, but definitely a $20 bill on a fishing line just waiting to lead you in his direction. Don’t contact him. One of two things is going to happen here: He won’t contact you again, probably because he found someone else to play with, or he will contact you again and you’ll know then and there that he’s full of shit. Guys like this should be forced to wear a biohazard sticker on their forehead.

I think you already handled it! Frankly, no matter what happens he'll always go to some slut that will put out right away and think it's love. I get the calls after too. It ticks me right off. I just simply say, "I'm sorry to hear you aren't happy, I wish you the best of luck in the future." Then I hang up.
