avant-garde -- I don't actually feel that the majority of organized
religions are shady operations. The issue lies more in our perceptions, what we have come to accept and the fact that religious institutions are deemed beyond reproach. However, if one stands back and looks at it objectively, just what are these people selling?  Using original sin again as an example they are selling salvation from trumped up charges, . Now is that crooked or what?

TIMMYTALES --- what kind of name is "Oral" anyways?
Yeah I remember that episode. Surprisingly the man wasn't washed up as a preacher afterwards, he still had a following that seemed to grow from the publicity.

MandaLee - very true - it's the Jimmy Bakers and the Oral Roberts' of the
religious world that garner the press.

Gomedome

I used to date a guy whose pastor would get up in front of the congregation weekly and ask them for money.  Since this church held some beliefs I didn't agree with, I left.  People in the ministry are human and do make mistakes.  However, you never hear about the ones who are quietly doing wonderful things for the glory of the Lord.

you're right about many organizations, but there are a select few who do good and are sincere. i just happened to belong to one that was a little on the shady side.

Gome

Something that has needed to be said.......Remember when Oral Roberts told the world that he had to raise 5 million dollars or die? Then he came back and said that since he raised it too quickly, he needed another five million?

lord then became an acronym for......Let Oral Roberts Die.
