- Go to What's Easier... Writing about Yourself or Something Completely Unrelated?
I prefer the former - the non-absolutes, one can be much more creative with
those!

The column can be on anything for a heading. Each new post has its own title so there shouldn't be a problem.

No contest. It is easier to write about others than myself

I find that my work is better when I can put a little bit of myself in it.
When I can relate to my subject, my writing has more passion. It's more alive.

For me.....
A little bit of me is in everything I write. I'm weird though, but if I can't feel something about it, I can't write about it....I don't know, my innermost feelings are the reason I write I guess, I love it!

I find that if I don't have some personal connection to what I'm writing, the words are dry and lifeless. I wrote an article on making a blue jean purse, and because I've done it before, I enjoyed the process, and was able to visualize each step in my head and translate that onto paper. On the other hand, I didn't even bother trying to write about how to change barn door hardware.
Writing a column has to be at least somewhat about you, because you choose what to write about. If someone tells you, "Give me a column on baseball." What and how you write that article says a lot about you. Some people would write a history, others about the ball, others about players, etc.
