I agree... Idle Words...

It's sad that most people don't know how to lift someone up and empower them with insight concerning their work.  We are not perfect and no one has a right to dim the light of any soul.

I've written about this and have seen it happen on different levels.  It takes a self-righteous person to destroy the character of another.  Most don't understand nor do they care about anyones feeling only the numbers of the fools responding to such nothingness.

I would say to all who have encountered those who build themselves up by dismantling others, know that you have a voice and even though you will continue to run into opposition say it loud it is who you are...  Hopefully what is being said is knowledge and wisdom to someone needing positive insight...  Blessing...

Venomous Blogs

Couldn't agree with you more. I find that people today in general seem to be much crueler than in my "youth" (I'm now 30.) I remember that at school we wouldn't say anything nasty for fear of hurting the other person's feelings. I've noticed that a culture of constant disparagement of others seems to be developing. I believe in constructive criticism and don't believe you have to be nasty to be witty.

For you guys out there giving criticism, how about softening the blow by finding something you like about the writing as well. Being able to deliver constructive criticism is a sign of maturity.

I've posted my share of insensitive stuff.

Now I delete my own share of insensitive stuff.

However, this makes for dull reading! Oh, well, call me stodgy.

Ariala
I'm with you....there is constructive and there is destructive criticism....one has the heart and soul of the writer's work in mind when it is entered.....and is entered with same; the other - well, need I press the point...

Welcome to on-line life

Any community type internet thing (forums, chatrooms, blogs) will have a certain level of vitriol... it's just the nature of the beast.

I think just the level of intercation that can occur... inside jokes, flirting, cravings for validation, etc., tends to get some folks hackles up. Sometimes it's a good exercise in discipline to NOT post something.

Anywho, don't take it too seriously. I've never posted on anything, anywhere where the negative doesn't show up in short order.
