Joe_Love, I'm no wimp
and I certainly recognize the evil and the horror that 911 was. But we are fighting it like dumb ass shit heads. All pounding our chest and waving our weapons like stupid gorillas, when we should have stayed in Afghanistan, got bin laden, and kept our "smart war" of underground spies and CIA in tack to root out the cells that are now blowing up every subway and bus and nightclub in sight. We have ruined our once proud Army, the enemy has learned all our tricks in Iraq and is using the knowledge against us.
Meanwhile, the idiots who started all this are fiddling while more than Rome burns. They tell us "Democracy is on the march" - Yeh, marching right out of America down a rat hole.

I apprecitate your opinion,
however I don't agree with it. I personally feel that when September 11th slapped the Statue of Liberty in the face, the entire world expected her to go menstral.

The tears & fears are beginning here Cynthia
in the Mid-West, Red territory, finally..Our local National Guard unit is being shipped to Iraq in a few days. Suddenly families are confronted with the cold reality and finding it a lonely, mirthless place indeed. Bush's folly hitting home, but will it change anything?
That "playful" incident was a reminder of the man's character; thank you for sharing and writing such a deep, thoughtful post.

frankk, one way to "get a grasp"
is to blog and read as much as you can beyond the mainstream press, and get your ass out of the country every once in awhile to hear what people in "reality based" cultures are talking about.

MMayB, I think more and more
people are really beginning to see this president for what he is and always was, a shallow, self indulgent, opportunist. All the things that Karl Rove and his henchmen tried to pin on Clinton.

We're living in very strange times. How to get a grasp?

Cynthia, we have to laugh sometimes otherwise we would go mad but yes I agree I can't laugh about those things either -- the press running around like headless chickens and that "gag" by Bush at that press dinner, I have never forgotten that. For me that shows the measure of the man--it was truly pathetic and just wiped aside any words of compassion that he had ever spouted. At that moment the dangers faced were all too clear
