that's how i see forgiveness: the letting go of fear and its object, that prevented me from seeing love.

i've learned everything in my life from mistakes. it's the judging part that i've had to learn to stop doing.

I think that the judging is something that our egos are designed to do to keep us safe and out of harms way. We need to be able to see "bad" for what it is and judge the danger we or the ones we love may be in; it is a matter of survival. However, after judging we forgive; by that I mean we "let go" of any emotions that would tie us to that evil. We do not hate or have any emotion toward it at all; we are at peace with it, but forgivness does not mean we have to love, or even like "it"; what ever "it" is that we judged.

I agree. We judge and punish ourselves.

Mistakes can hurt a lot...

I have done so many in my life...but when i analyze them afterwards, i often see that it was necessary for me to fail at this moment, because i did the wrong thing...God can foresee better than us, so he teaches us that way.

When we manage to know where the mistake actually lies, it makes us stronger and helps us to go forward...

i have made many mistakes in my life, as well. my self punishment never helped me to correct my mistakes; it only enhanced my fear of what others were thinking of me, or what would happen to me. i was blind to consequences of my own thinking. thanks for the comment.

unless we question our own motives, we will unconsciously believe that our basic separation from God is based in selfish indulgence. and what we take from others, we fear will be taken from us. it took me a while to comprehend this, but it is real.

I think I go along with your views on mistakes and punishment
Only for me that's a way of life. For me, I don't quite see where God comes in the picture, unless you are talking of the force that keeps life going on this planet.
