You need to bring in two guests

1. One of your best editor or publisher friends to tell them how things look from the other end of the barrel.

2. TERPGIRL (maybe among others)

Ms N Dependence, I don't think we have to be extremely sensitive to write. Indeed sometimes I think writing is ill served by overactive sensitivity

Sounds kind of oxymoronic
the only way to succeed as a writer is to have a thick skin (to be insensitive) - when sensitivity (thin skin) is what helps us create.

I think your teaching methods are sound...you are right...writer's must be able to accept critique when it is given properly...and if not, they should find a new career!

I understand.
That's a good approach on the part of the college. You don't want a teacher who is all theory and no practical experience.

Word.smith thanks. No it is not a condition that I become accredited. The colleges rarely find people who have strong industry experience and so I am welcomed -- accredited or not. In some subjects experience is more relevant and if one steps away into academia too long one loses the freshness that you can bring from real world experience. My course is only part-time. I want to learn to help me put together my own courses as I plan to run courses about writing and editing at college as well as commercially

MayB,

Here's to your success in your course. Is it a condition of your package that you become accredited? On another note, we know just how thin-skinned artists can be when it come to their work. You've given them good advice.
