I am just warped enough to enjoy the though that it might actually happen to someone like my cousin......

Imagine the horrified parents!
if they received a letter such as this.

Oh my goodness,

What a story, God bless her! His guilty concious got the best of him after all those years. In my opinion, people who do steal around this area, do so out of need most times. I don't know anyone who does drugs, you know the normal robbing reasons? Maybe I am out of touch with what I should be doing as a small business owner. One thing I know for sure is this. I have a lot of friends, and damm good family, and about 200 Harley riders who would go to the max for me, as I would for them. Honestly though, I am not a redneck, it is just the way we are!

You might be pleasantly surprised to learn that it isn't that uncommon for people to get a conscience and send in money that they fraudulently turned in on an insurance claim...a ring they included in a theft claim, values they grossly inflated, etc....when they mature or get religion or after they realize they weren't cheated when they expected to be and had inflated to "allow" for it...it's always refreshing.

It's amazing what kindness will do.  Living in a smalltown I know what you mean.  About a year ago a man in his early 20's walked into the little store here in town.  It's owned by the widow of the orginal owner, she barely makes ends meet in that store but it belonged to her husband, so she finds a way even at age 72.

The young man gave her 50.00 and said it was hers.  She said she didn't have a bill with her and he told her,  "Yes I do.  When I was 17 I stole some cigarettes, this is about what they would have cost at the time."

Being the person she is she told him he did not need to do that, he insisted and she finally took the money.  When I walked in the store a few minutes later she was crying.  She remember that robbery, her store had been broken into and all that had been taken was cigarettes.  While she remembered it since it had been brought up, she had long forgotten it...the fact that he remembered it and felt bad enough to do something about it several years later, meant the world to her.

Your right, if it is someone I know real well, it is going to break some hearts! The darn pub is so old, underneath it is where they gained access. Through the old cellars..

Other than it reducing your chances of ever getting restitution, I hope that it was someone passing through so that you don't have to find that it was someone you know.

I just don't know who would do that. That sounds so bad because I know everyone in this darn town. I am glad they took it after hours and no one was hurt. If I find out who did it, which in a small town, I will. Believe me, my family will deal with them. Maybe they needed something, I would have given them that. People around these parts know. To steal, they will be taught a lesson. It is the way we are here! I won't punish them, I will be kind to them, they will know they have met me.

I am just sick for you.  That is really disgusting.  Whoever did it will pay...in some way.  I hope you get your money back, and I hope justice is served...but no one can take from someone as decent as you and not rack up a really bad karmic debt.

Asking for it would require decency and ethics...something obviously lacking.  Do you have any idea who?

I did not take it as disrespect!  It's funny and if you spent about 10 minutes with my husband, the scary part about it all, is I could imagine him writing that!

Well, of course, I meant no disrespect because I love them, too....but if you can't kid about the boss....well, it's a time-honored American custom....and, I guess I was really thinking more of the conditions for a sweet guy...warped sense of humor...Far Side and Monty Python fan...
