Argus,
You are probably right about some people believing so fervently that the punishment for not believing is death. My thinking is that the idea of death to anyone who does not believe as they do is ground into their heads who have something to gain by fostering hate. I doubt any religion, at least when it was founded, taught to hate.

Avant,

Thanks for your comment.  I imagine a good part of the world, as you said, think that we in America are arrogant and tyrranical.  Frankly though, they are listening to the media and how they portray us.  In many of the countries the government is probably in control of the media.  Whatever, there are probably many more reasons you and I haven't come up with for them hating America and its citizens.  I don't see that changing anytime in the near future.  What a shame.

good post. i think everyone can see the corruption, but for many the alternative is unthinkable. we are a world driven by fear, and to love is to lose. i think the world views us as arrogant and tyrranical. no amount of 'aid' changes that image when the war planes fly over and bomb the hell out of someone.

Metta, to answer the question of your title,

People who believe fervently that THEY have the true religion, that the whole world must accept that religion, that if you refuse, the punishment is death.

Thanks for visiting my Blog. Univ blog.

Metta,
Thanks for commenting. Yes, it was a major vent. I am sick of all the hurt and destruction around the world. I'm sick of all the hate for no good reason. I'm sick of hate period. The devil has really got a handhold and he's not letting go.

Caleb's blogger,
Thanks for your comments. What I think about our "leaders" has come from too many years of seeing and hearing and reading of the things leaders do in any country and, especially ours. I've seen too many things I know to be the case in local matters, and have seen too much on national matters. I know how the media changes virtually everything they put out there so that there is very little truth in most of it. I haven't seen anything to change my mind yet. As far as the terrorists are concerned, I stand by every word I wrote. Appreciate you stopping by.

Joe Love,
As a matter of fact, I do attend church regularly. Thanks for the comment.

Some major venting there.

Wow!

I am not convinced the things you say about the corruption of our leaders and corporations are as bad as you say but I respect and defend your right to express your opinion.

You may like to read a comment I put on another, related post yesterday at http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Comments.aspx/273760#c917109.  Hey, I guess I don't get any clicks for that.  Oh well.

I may not agree with every point you made, but that was some post!  You said things that need to be said and most are afraid to say them or even look at the possibility - hate breeds hate and anyone who says that actions that breed hate and destruction are "Godly" need to take a look... love breeds love - if this nation acted in a Christian like manner, people wouldn't want to do us harm... if we gave instead of took, healed instead of hurt, saw someone other than our own reflection in the mirror (being aware of others) - things would be completely different.... this isn't saying that there aren't people that do those things here, but predominantly people are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't see beyond what is good for themselves and right outside their front door...
