JJ (Thornton) Wlider, FYI 24,000 men were lost at the 2-day Battle of Shilo
That's a lot of mistades while burning barns on the way to Atlanta.  The infrastructure of the South was farming (plantations of tobacco and slavery).  Your response please...

Kingy,
I really hate to say this, you being a teacher and all, but that history book is Bullshit.  There is nothing between Atlanta and the sea but farms and farm fields.  The only ''infrastructure'' that the Confederacy had was in Richmond.  I honestly do wonder whether Ronald MacDonald wrote that book.  Sherman was primarily noted for his constant state of drunkeness.  Check a few ''unrevised'' history books.   JJ

Kingmi,
Sherman invented war without casualties?  No, I think that was invented by Lee in his surrender at Appomattox.  That's the deal.  War w/o casualties = Peace.

OBP, Sherman revamped warfare by eliminating casualties and focusing on
infrastructure.  Civilian casualties were avoided at all cost, as he was such a John Kerry-type, and so my comment about him inventing terrorism needs that caveat.

kingmi,
The history books actually said that?  Jeez.  Who was the publisher, Barnum and Baily?  Maybe that's where Ronald MacDonald came into the picture.  He wrote history books between his job with Barnum and Baily and his job with MacDonalds.   JJ

JJ won this quiz with the answer of terrorism. Sherman struck the South
at the heart of their infrastructure, as opposed to typical warfare pitting thousands of men in headlong battles.
