I'm hoping for enough feedback so that everybody who participates gets something out of the exercise.

Funny, you should mention it...

I was going to write about motivation the other day. Then stopped. What motivation?  :))

I write blogs, I write for clients - but write, as in write for mags, etc.? No.  I tend to write when hired to write.

Some motivation in that direction would be good.

I'm going to post on it shortly.
Ideas/suggestions are very welcome.

Factor,
I think about it some, list some suggestions and we can try and get something started.

No problem Malcolm.
Just check back to find out what's happening.

WordWizard,
I can relate to that. I'll go for months without trying to write any fiction. I have to push myself to get those stories out.

Any ideas that you have would be welcome. I suppose that two things could be done. A subject matter could be proposed for those who write non-fiction and for those who write fiction. Participation will be on an if-you-want-to basis. As a matter of fact, people can participate without telling anybody. It could be a private arrangement with 'self' to try to get those juices flowing.

Keep the writing going and go for publication when you are good and  ready.

I tried something along those lines
here but only one person gave it a try...so I lost interest myself and stopped midstory  Maybe you can think of another way that will catch others' interest more!

But the Firefox
browser is a less good idea. Not sure why it's duplicating my comments! Apologies all.

A competition would be good and I'd be happy to participate

You've hit the nail on the head!
I don't know what it is but I don't write stories, yet I supposedly write good stories. I wish I could find the motivation to do so...

Long ago, I stopped writing with the idea of publishing, and it was almost a relief. Of course I also stopped writing for almost any other reason, except in my journal which became my only writing constant. Being on Blogit has shaken me a bit and I confess I am beginning to think about it again. But I don't know if being handed a subject to write on is that great an idea. On the other hand, it may be just the technique some of us need to get the writing ass in gear in a serious fashion. Hemlocker

Thanks Sassy,
I've gone, had a look quick look around an bookmarked the site. Thanks!

Sassy, I think it's a great idea too.

Poetry is beyond me.   I have to admit that. I know when I see beautiful words put together, but somehow there is no way to express to the writer what I feel, having read their work. Thanks for the link. I'm gonna go look.

Its a great idea!
I entered a contest not long ago that has displayed all of the articles entered. They are now being judged by other writers. The final decision is of course the judges, but this gives them an idea as to what people like to read. For some reason poetry just doesn't cut it. Maybe that is why I stay away from lyrical writings. http://www.writingcash.com/entries/000179.shtml

Raine,

Blogit is a wonderful place where interaction is concerned.  Here's hoping that your writing blooms here and have fun while you're at it.

Words from the New Kid on the Blog....

If it means anything to anyone on the blog, I signed up with Blogit.com as a way to stay motivated with my writing.  I have read such good things from various places (Please don't ask-I have web surfed so much in the recent past....I don't remember all the points of positive feedback)  I read somewhere that there are all kinds of good writers are found here with many notable readers and writers breezin' by.  Regardless, I just need the "iron" (of iron sharpens iron fame, anyone?) of peeps like you to keep growing as a writer.  I hope to be posting several times a week if possible.

Thanks to you who have made Blogit.com look good to this novice on the web.

Word,
I'll go back through my archives and find them. Everyone needs encouragement!

MerryAnne,
It would help in particular those who have not had something published as yet. It would also be a source of encouragement.

Word,
That's what happened with my first articles that I published. i wonder if I should repost my timeline of getting published blogs that I wrote when I did my query and got accepted? Maybe some new folks would benefit from that?

This is so much talent here and so many afraid to take the risk.  Here is the deal folks!  YOU can write, it shows up on my computer screen everytime I log on here.

Take risks, accept rejection (trust me it WILL happen) and revel in the acceptance (that will happen too).

Find the right place for your work and give it shot...the very worst that can happen is they say no but you know what.  My first rejection came back two years later and ended up on the NY Times best sellers list.  Why?  Because it wasn't right for that edition.  (Chicken Soup For The Mothers Soul 2 page 114).

Never EVER think you are not good enough.

Timmy,

I felt ridiculous the first time I sent out something to an ezine. I was thinking, 'now why do you think you have the talent it takes to be published?' I managed to push that aside, look for a publication suited to what I was writing and went ahead and sent off the article and you know what? It got published. If you don't take that first step (submitting your stuff) you'll never really know how good you are. It's inevitable that your stuff will be rejected, but you have to at least try.  Promise yourself that you will at least do an internet search for a publisher that fits your writing style. I'm pretty ordinary and if I can do it, trust me, anyone can do it! Now get to it, Timmy!

I cannot speak for others, but as for me........I have a burning passion to write. I have written many, many things with a dream of getting published. What holds me back is that I do not feel that it is worthy.

We all need motivation--
The great successs of the Road Trip Stories has motivated me to write every day. Everyone loves them and constantly encourages me to get to work on the next one.
