I cant find my place,

I must tell you this about the whole damm situation. First, we practice too much restraint. Second, we allow civilians to second guess the military. Third, there will come a time when enough is enough, we will not retreat, kady bar the door when that day comes. Hell will break open. If they (the terrorist) believe dying is about getting laid by a bunch of virgins, there going to have more ass then they can handle..

I do believe Justso is a woman. She lives in the south (Alabama) and is a true believer. Your right about the posts, blew me away that people could think like that on a day when London had just been bombed. I do not understand the concept of laying down and letting the bad guys run free. They offer no solution, but play one hell of a blame game. You can't talk to them!!

I was going to tell you something I thought of yesterday. Right after 7/7 in London. Scoop had written a post, did you read it? Well, I commented on the darn thing, he blasted me (I knew he would.) Later in my post Justso thanked me for the comment on his post, I went back and sure enough, he blasted her too. Poor Justso.
Later in the evening I was watching some of the news. The thought came to my mind, if I were in a foxhole, who would I want in that foxhole with me. Well, I would want YOU because you are a warrior with a level head, I would want Justso because she is a woman of God and surely her prayers would be heard.
Now what kind of person thinks of such things? Did I mention we would also have the biggest and baddest of all military might in our little foxhole? See, I am a sick bitch...

...resort to name-calling, in general, but when ignorance rears its ugly head, I feel compelled to call it as I see it.

What has ANY of this got to do with US soldiers torturing Iraqi prisoners (often proved later to be innocent) in a premeditatedm way and, I might add, quite likely santioned from the top??? You bring in the truly evil acts of others in an emotive fashion in a weak attempt to justify the unjustifiable acts of the people who are supposedly charged with exporting some twisted American verison of "freedom and democracy" to people who, quite frankly, could get on perfectly well without it.
"The facilities at GITMO are plush. These killers would destroy entire cities were they allowed to walk free. They are prisoners of war in the midst of a war."
So you haven't read the reports, then? You haven't heard that the UN and the Red Cross are routinely denied access? Why, if the place is so "plush"? And, as katray says, they are only killers when someone has the balls to prove it in court. Keeping them locked up in a legal no-mans land is a tactic used by fascist dictators the world over. Furthermore, at least two British citizens, released a feww months back, were definitely innocent, and I doubt they're the only ones.
And what exactly does "plush" have to do with it, anyway? How about we banged you up for three years without trial, without charge, without access to family or lawyers? Would you really think that that was OK because you were fed and had a hospital nearby.
Wake up, kingmi. You're starting to get embarassing.

However, when one reads such things as "you are the cowards" or "liberals should be drafted" it does make one wonder....Talking points based on factual information. Do some research on Zarqawi and military plans to remove him in 2002. Read about the Taliban's recent strong resurgence. I do these things because I want the full, truthful picture, not just the tiny, manipulated pieces offered by the power structure.
I am not a Democrat, nor do I consider myself a liberal, btw. I don't think highly of either Clinton and actually agree with some of the more moderate stances of the Republican party, though I do feel we need a new party that really represents all Americans, not just those who can bribe and buy their desires.

OBP, what you state about G. Bay prisoners is not as
clear cut as you think. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Guantanamo Bay prisoners can challenge their detainment in U.S. courts. Congress has a constitutional role also in determining their rights. It is not supposed to be entirely an executive branch issue or determination.

Please allow me to interject here. First of all, the detainees at Gitmo do not fall under the laws of the US. They do not have the rights of the American people. They have rights as human beings, but not the rights set forth under our constitution. They have been given ample access to medical, religious freedoms. They are fed 3 times a day, the new hospital takes care of their mental, medical issues, this goes above and beyond anything in history when it comes to prisioners of war. They are under the guidelines of the military courts and therefore not the American courts. Time will tell who is who and who has done what. Until that time, they remain prisioners.

katray, thank you. I do not seek to silence the war critics, on the contra
-ry. I started this blog specificall to encourage debate. However, there are a few on the other side who cannot make a debate point without name-calling. They are the ones in the weaker position, trying to shut down the debate.
As for the detainees at GITMO, who knows if they are all terrorists. They were arrestd with bombs and rifles attempting to murder our GI's, so I imagine that makes them pow's at least. Where there is war there have to be pow's.
It does not seem unreasonable to me to warehouse these pow's in humane circumstances until the conclusion of hostilities. The point made here today imply that people think these detainees ought to be set free. Disingenuous. And my final point is that, as you say the war/torture supporters and the war/torture protestors each have a passion about their side, their sides being suspiciously parallel to one or the other of the political parties. That's why sop much of it sounds like talking points to me.

Innocent until proven guilty ring a bell? Knock, knock, is this Communist China or AMERICA which was founded on the principles of equal justice, freedom from unlawful detention and the basic laws of humanity? What about the innocent civilians who have been tortured and killed as a result of our revenge? Does that somehow avenge the deaths of those who died on 9-11?
Why were real terrorists like Zarqawi allowed to escape? Or one of the leading Taliban leaders, who feels safe enough to give interviews in Paskistan, proclaiming the Taliban's resurgence and boasting about his communications with Bin Laden and Mullah Omar? I don't expect real answers to these questions in this section; I simply wish there would be more open and true thinking processes amongst war/torture supporters.
One last thing to ponder - the right to dissent and challenge government is guaranteed, actually encouraged in our Constitution. So if you advocate silencing the critics, you are against what this nation so proudly insists it is all about.

I say reinstate the draft and take only the liberals that think up things
of the sort. They can write it off as an educational endeavor. I see no reason to give Hillary any General bars right off the bat. She is a common drill Sergeant and should remain that for all her days.
