We do change as do our beliefs. Of course that does not make the point any less valid. If some grows into or out of belief they should follow that and make sure they are not lying just to please others.
True faith should be a personal thing, not something others can dictate for you.

Not to try and sound mean or anything, but what that hell are you blabbering about? Most of what you said really came off as nonsense.
I have looked at every idea and concept of God that is out there and I can promise you this right now, none of them are accurate. Whatever is out there is nothing at all like the BS that believers spit out. I have already proven for one thing it can not be all-powerful. I am positive beyond belief that it has no connection with our souls.
I could go on and on. I have looked at the idea of God with a very open mind and am very positive whatever is out there is not God.

Please forgive my presumption, but for the sake of argument, let me presume to know what it is that you personally have against the idea of "God". As I see it, your idea of God is the same one that most religious people have of "him". Of course, it is wrong to pretend to believe in anything that you do not actually believe in, but if you were ever(and I hope you never are)in a hopeless, terrorized state, alone and without any idea how your soul could possibly survive the situation, I'm pertty sure you would ask God for help.

I think that if you change your perception of what "God" is you might find that you acutally do believe.

Kooka_, You are right on here with each point.   People who claim to believe in order to play it safe are only fooling themselves.   They definitely do not fool God and they don't usually fool anyone else either.    What a sad life to be doing that.

Kooka...very well done.

The labels related to organized religion simply do not apply to me for the very reasons you discuss.  I won't label myself Catholic, because I don't agree with all their teachings.  I won't label myself Lutheran for the same reason.  I label myself as a Believer:  I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins and the sins of many others.  That's my label.   One religion interprets the Bible one way.  Another religion interprets it the other.  Gives me a headache to tell you the truth.  Too confusing.

I do agree that it is important to remain true to yourself; but the self changes, often.  I discussed this in a post relating to hypocrisy.  I am not who I was ten years ago.  I am not who I will be maybe ten minutes from now.  However, I don't think God condemns me because one day I hold a little bit of doubt in my heart as it pertains to interpreting scripture.
