Oh ugh Cynthia!
About the US requirements!  Steve loves Whole Foods stores but we haven't got one anywhere near us.    We eat very little red meat....but I agree that with organic at least you have a better chance of survival!

Hemlocker, I know what
you mean about discovering great writers here. And to think not many of them would call themselves "professional". It gives me hope for mankind. People are not as stupid as TV lets you think they are.

Thanks for the comment.

Ginnie, my RG is from Wyoming
and beef is his middle name so I buy only small farm raised meat with no antibiotics etc. at organic food stores like WHOLE FOODS. My daughter on the Canadian side tells me that I'm fooling myself, that US "standards" for wearing the "organic" label are a joke compared to the Canadian requirements.

The Agriculture Commissioner in Texas won't reveal ...
where in Texas the cow came from. Wouldn't want to jeapordize those campaign contributions..

Don't worry about the Japanese.  They are insisting on whaling bans being lifted so they can kill four times as many whales, and provide whale burgers for all.  The shame of the beef industry goes way beyond stonewalling mad cow disease.  I liked your response to limey.  I only came on board in May.  I can't believe how many great bloggers are out there whose work I haven't gotten to yet.  Glad I found you.  Hemlocker

Amen Cynthia!
You tell them!!  Of course any 'complaints' would fall on deaf ears.  Steve claims he'll go mad someday...growing up on beef in England.  I say more kudos to the vegetarians of the world!  I wish I was one!  Going out to visit my veggie son and his veggie girlfriend next week...so no meat for me...which makes me happier anyway!
