- Go to WHY SPIDER-MAN IS BETTER THAN BATMAN ANY DAY
None
Spider-Man has ALWAYS been my favorite comic book character. I like Batman, but Spider-Man is more like me, sarcastic, energetic, and although fiction, entertaining.

I haven't seen that one in a while myself.
We seem to be getting a little off topic here.

Yes, I know of your thing for Captain Marvel. You've told me about it before.
As for Flash, well a guy who can just run fast is a little boring.
I know it was the era you grew up in, but DC comics are jsut not for me.

Rumors of a live-action Captain Marvel movie have been tossed around. The original Flash, Barry Allen, is dead. His former teen-age sidekick, Kid Flash, now all grown up, is the new one. He's not nearly as fast. That villain you mention is Gorilla Grod.

actually i liked
CAPTAIN MARVEL!!!!
SHAZAM!!!!
We had the Marvel Family, Captain Marvel, Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel, Jr.
They were endowed by the gods (Greek/Roman Pantheon) with their special powers. They were just teenagers -- Billy Batson, and sheesh I forgot the other two's names -- the kid who was Capt. Jr. was crippled and used crutches.
Billy and the girl shouted SHAZAM! and the other kid shouted CAPTAIN MARVEL! and they turned into the Marvel Family, flying around helping others -- had great adventures, too -- more full of depth than ol' Superman or anything like that. I remember they transported this school of children in a wooden schoolhouse/airplane with wings and all that somewhere and the children were so grateful.
Then there was the evil mad scientist adversary, Dr. Demento or something like that, who finally, he thought, got the better of Capt. Marvel -- took the gods hostage (hmmmm) and had them cross out all of the superpowers that they had given to Captain Marvel until he was a cowardly weakling subject to pain and all that. Only Captain Marvel still had one card up his sleeve. He shouted SHAZAM!!!, turned back into Billy Batson, who was not so cowardly and who walked right up to that evil mad scientist and punched him in the face and ran him off and released the gods and got all his powers back as Captain Marvel.
Second is FLASH -- who could move faster than the eye could see -- faster than light? -- forgot -- but one of his nemesi was a gorilla with intelligence who ruled a gorilla empire in darkest africa. lots of adventure there.

Well, first off I got bored with the Punisher. He was good for a real short time, but just had nothing of interest to keep him worth reading.
I really just never could get into Batman. The only DC stuff I ever found that I liked was Sandman, but with Gaimen wiring how could it be anything but good? Batman just does not interest me at all. I will admit there is a level of similarity between the two, but for me Spidey makes it seem more believable that he does what he does. Also, the Aunt MAy thing. Another aspect of Spider-man that really works is that with his uncle's death he has to take care of his elderly aunt now and that is yet another hurdle that makes him being a super hero all the more hectic. Although my personal beliefs right now are that Aunt May is really the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe and is a true immortal, just playing the game of being an old lady.

Batman has gone through so many incarnations because he's an older character than Spider-Man. Naturally, he had to change more with the times. The current incarnation of Batman is more akin to Marvel's Punisher. It's darker, more ominous, more sinister. Guilt drives both Spider-Man and Batman, but in different ways. Spider-Man/Peter Parker had the power to stop the murderer of Uncle Ben, but chose not to. Even then, he didn't witness the act first hand and still had Aunt May. Bruce Wayne saw his parents die before his eyes and was powerless to stop it. That left a far deeper emotional scar that will never truly heal. Batman focuses on the psychological aspects of putting on a mask and fighting crime. Let's face it, with or without superpowers, it's not exactly a sane thing to do. Batman explores these aspects while Spider-Man glosses over them. If you don't want to see the new Batman flick, that's your business, but you're missing out. It's by far better than any other of the previous Batman movies.
