Word
It sounds like a good idea. Especially seeing so much of it in Jamaica. Might ever serve as a resource for educational purposes. Just a thought~~Good luck my friend!

Original,
It does take some will to stay focused once the kids come.

I agree with your last comment about sometimes having kids first means that you don't accomplish certain things as early in life....

TP,
Not that that's any of their business. At 24 you have lots of time to have kids. I had my son at 33 and nobody thought it was weird. It's just that it's smarter to get some goals achieved before deciding to have kids. Have kids first and it's more likely that things will be put off further and further and may never get done. Do what's best and what's right for you.

Tweeter,
That's true enough, before I started writing I didn't notice half the things that were going on around me, now I motivate myself effortlessly. For instance, the other day I was sitting in KFC with my son and I observed quite a few overweight people coming in for a greasy chicken meal. I thought at the time about writing an article on fast food and the effects on our health and the reasons why we eat so much of it. I haven't got around to writing it, but I'm keeping the idea in storage for another time. So I agree that life provides so much inspiration that there is little need for software to jar us into getting some ideas down on paper.

Thanks Symph.
I think the best place to start is just by jotting your ideas down. After I do that, I basically make up my article around 3 or 4 points and run with it from there.

WordWizard,
Sometimes I wonder what people would think if they knew they were being watched and what grand ideas they give us writers. When in a crunch for something to write, just sitting back and watching for a while does start the seed of an idea.

Thanks L.E.
That kind of encouragement will get me moving. Motherhood and ideas about it are always in vogue.

That's a good idea. I'm a 24 yr old American and have come under fire for waiting to have children. Well, fire probably isn't the exact word, but a lot of people have questioned me about it.

Speaking of ideas
I JUST posted a comment to another blogger, which is about ideas.
The topic was on software and how it isn't needed to create ideas, well what you just wrote in your latest blog says that same thing.
Which is:
Every idea you will every need comes simply from living life, the problem is though, I think very few people pay attention enough to what go's on around them. Becoming aware is all you need.
Wouldn't you agree?

When I really can't think of anything, I do something similar. I go somewhere and sit and watch. There are always things happening: on the beach, at Starbucks, on the street. Just a tiny little incident can provide all sorts of fodder for ideas. I ask myself, "Now why did he do that?" or "I wonder what set that off?" or "Is she happy?" In answering the question about the event, the story comes. So, yes. Good post.

There's always room for articles and stories about when to become a mother. It's one of those areas where people always want answers, even if it's the same answer that was given by 30 or 50 or 100 other writers.
DOn't file the ideas - WRITE, woman, WRITE!!!!

Same thing, Argus.
I don't suppose that growing up I was as poor as some others. My mother had her financial struggles, but she did her best to see that I was taken care of. Seems now that 14/15 is the average age of girls giving birth and they don't seem to know how to stop once they get going.

word, the young woman/childbirth situation sounds very
similar to Costa Rica. But here, and I suspect in Jamaica too, it's a social class phenomenon --- young girls with lots of kids tend to be largely from lower class; girls who grow up in middle or upper class tend to have fewer children later.

Good for you word....
..it's sounds like a good story...great angle. As you say you older mums are a bit unique where you live. Perhaps a story such as yours could inspire young girls too! Go for it!
