And there it is, Metta. I like your Christian attitude, backed by
the teachings that help make a good Christian.  It is these insufferable judgmentalists, these santimonious elitists that espouse being Christ-like but do not live it, condemn all those who are not of a like mind, that tend to generally piss me off with their holier-than-thou bullshit.  The problem with most hypocrites is that they do not even realize how hypocritical they are and that Christ himself would be ashamed of them (he'd also forgive them and try to steer them correctly, but, somehow, as arrogantly ignorant of his teachings as they are, they would probably find fault in him and his methods if he were around today).

I agree with that, twodog, as long as what was said that became a matter

for ousting was exactly what was said.  What Durbin said compared the interrogators at Guantanamo to Nazis;  he didn't compare American troops to Nazis, which is what the spinners are spinning.  However, to your point on ousting,  Nixon was brought up on impeachment charges for his coverup of the break-in at the Watergate;  how about the same for Dubya and his cover-up and outright lies about Iraq?  Hell, if Bill Clinton can be tried for a lie about a blowjob, surely Dubya can be tried for the wrongful deaths of thousands, including a almost two thousand Americans, and his lies about Iraq.

A Spin in Time

Remeber some guy, let me see, wasn't he the Majority Leader of the Senate? Lott, yeah, that's the guy, Trent Lott. If I remember correctly, he was forced from his leadership position, by his own party by the way, for a comment he made at a party for a retireing Senator. Something about, a presidential run by the retireing senator. Gosh, gee, holy smoke, what a dispicable thing to say. Of course he wasn't on the floor of the Senate when the statement was made, and I remember the outrage streaming from the opposition party.

You can't have it both way folks. If one is wrong and forced to leave a leadership position, the other should certainly suffer the same fate. After all, what's fair is fair, isn't it?

and I'm back...

Paul said, “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.”1 Paul said, “when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure; when we are slandered, we try to conciliate”;2 Paul said, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,’ says the Lord. ‘BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”3

Jesus said, “bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Just as you want people to treat you, treat them in the same way.4 Think of someone who has hurt you, or mistreated you, or cursed you. Pray for them now, in love.

I ask the Father in his great glory to give you the power to be strong inwardly through his Spirit. I pray that Christ will live in your hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built on love.5

And now that we've heard from the extreme religious right, how about
someone from the extreme religious left?  Thanks, Justsouno -- I think....

Metta, I lived through that war and this one they are the same only

in that the enemy we are fighting want only one thing to rule the world and rid the world of Jews. If you believe in God hear this request of his: I will bless those who bless you, (the Jews), and I will curse those who curse you! That is a solid truth yesterday, today and forever. God says he is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Satan is the father of lies. He wants everybody to believe all this as he wants to be god. I am telling you the truth. God's truth is the truth that will set you free and nothing else will come close.

That's right, Glennb. We must. It is in the very best interest of our
fellow countrymen to at least allow for the possibility or there being wrongs committed, to not just accept things simply because the president or any of his henchmen say it is so.  It is also in the interest of the generations to come...

Oh, hell, yeah, Metta. You get a hallelujah, amen, and a
pass the damned chicken, sister, too!!  We have the finest propagandists and spinners since Goebbels and his slick bunch.  And did I hear you say something about turning off the television and educating yourself?  God, I love someone who preaches autodidactism.

Hallelujah!!

Can I get a witness?!

The frightening thing is that there are many similarities to what is happening now and what is happening then...  I'm sure the Germans denied it as well...  I don't understand so many people in this country that live on spin... people, pick up a newspaper and read it!  A sound bite is what they want you to hear, not what happened...

better yet, turn off that television all together and educate yourself...

Saul_Relative,
Well said! We have to keep writing the powers that bee!!

Agreed, Glennb. Sometimes the accusers are as bad or worse than the
accused.  My problem with this entire episode is that it really doesn't mean anything one way or another; it simply distracts from the more glaring atrocities being blurred or erased from the public consciousness so that the powers that be perpetuate themselves and not be held accountable for things that really matter, like prosecuting the bastards who actually erred at Guantanamo and charging men like the president with executive irrresponsibility.

Saul_Relative,

Good piece! But do not be confused by a statement and the person not having the guts to stand by it when confronted by paid protest! These people are not as outraged as they would we are led to believe. They stage their objections to give the illusion of concern for humanity! The JDL, and others who bring up the horrors of  Germany under Nazism, are more Nazi than any Nazi!

People have to stop this insane reach for sympathy in every corner and crevace of the Planet!
