The strangest thing is you really are not the first person to say something along those lines. I just can not see myself doing the whole preaching' thing for some reason.
If you got a few hundred grand lying around you can loan me, I'll go ahead and run for an office though. That might be worth doing, if you can afford to do it.

my point is if you believe their is a christian tyranny
running this country depriving citizens of their rights, do something about it. I may disagree with your beliefs but I support your right to put them out there and effect change. As much as it is within your power. You have compiled a massive resource of posts here on blogit that could be used as templates for sermons. I know you are married with young children and things are tough but maybe eventually the time will come that you could do it.

I dont care what two people do in their bedroom and neither do most christians. Christians have the right to oppose gay marriage it does not matter why they hold those beliefs, they have the right to hold them. Atheists have the right to oppose the public display of the 10 commandments AND any other public display of religion AND to uphold the right to gay marriage. i dont see where I am clueless.
If you want gay marriage to be legal and if you think civil liberties are being threatened by the christian right then rally people to your cause. Start a Church of your own and drum up some constituency. Preach man! Seriously. Get the word out. Maybe one day atheists will outnumber the Christians and the country will be run the way you think it should be run. That is perfectly legit.
you are passionate enough it seems.

If you really believe that , then you are really and truly clueless as to how our society is being run right now.
I disagree with homosexuality. I don't understand it and I do find the idea disturbing (Well, the man on man part at least. I am openly a pervert and am very much aroused by the idea of girl on girl action). I however believe in freedom and equal rights for all.
If you listen to all of those who preach the 'evils' of homosexuality you wills ee that it is mindless religious dribble. They quote the Bible like crazy. They say this is God's way and so on. There is not one who opposes homosexual marriage that I have heard who has not used religious ideas to back them up. I challenge you to find one. Sure they create BS of a non religious nature to try and make it sound justified, btu all that is is lies and misinformation. I have already pointed all that out before.
We are very much a culture that is having morals forced on us be the reigning religious power. If you can not see this, then you must be way too close to the true problem to be able to see clearly at all.

what makes you so certain people who are against homosexual
marriage are against it because that brand of morality was " forced" on them.
you toss the word " forced" around in a slight general way.
maybe some people simply believe it to be wrong.

You really are clueless here ain't ya? Well may be it is just you are too close to the reality of it to see the reality of it.
The reasons why so many people are against homosexual marriage is because they have ahd the morals ideas forced on them by religion to begin with. Religion forces the morals ideas on the followers, who then force those ideas on the rest of the country. As long as people make choices based off of their religious beliefs above what is right and what will allow for true freedom, then it will always be about forcing one groups moral values on others.
Regretfully the USA is a Christian dominate society and so we are never going to be free until we are able to break form the religious ideas that are being forced on us by the believers. We lack freedom because those moral values are being forced on all by the religions themselves through their followers.

homosexual marriage will become legal when enough
Americans vote for a man or woman whose platform supports it. It seems right now, as far as legislation is concerned, most Americans are opposed to it. That is simply the wat our system works. I dont think it is so much the self righteous forcing of morality as it is the system in action. If homosexual marriage becaome legal, it wouldn't bother me because thats what the country wants. The good news is in a few states it is legal.
You just cant make every one happy with the law.

If that were true than the whole issue over homosexual marriage would have been dropped. We have too many laws that are nothing more than forced morals for that to be something Christians are not trying not do. Everywhere one turns they find Christians attempting to force their own personal morals on others.

christians are not to force morals on anyone. That is not their goal, even though some unfortuantly come off that way. All People are granted by God to choose their own path and lifestyle. Christians are to share the love of God and the power of God with the world, not to demonstrate how holy and perfect they are and condemn others, because they are not holy and perfect. Christians live under the grace ( free favor of God), but that does not give them an excuse to sin and get away with it, it simply provides forgiveness when failure occurs.
I myself have a firm grasp of what my morals are, but I do make mistakes. A christian making a foolish mistake does not disqualify them from sharing the free favor of God to people
