- Go to Telling a Story is "Not" the Same as Reporting?
Writeroflight,
Com on! You are in such a state of reality denial! It is easy for you to take reasond discourse and make it a liberal vs. conservative rant. George Bush is a liar! When that comes through in your writing then we can start the process of healing America!

I know that''s not what you meant . . .
. . . but the arguments are almost exactly the same as mine. Bizarre!

Writeroflight,
Whoa! Let me stop you! That is not what I said! And you are free to interpret what you are witnessing in your own post! Please do not distort mine!
Thanks for the read!

Glenn, I hope you're sitting down . . .
. . . I actually agree with most of this.
Need for better education - absolutely! Not only on general principles, but specifically in world affairs. (So how is it that liberals who accept only one perspective and reject conservatism out of hand can be said to be better informed than conservatives who study and analyze both points of view?)
"To a degree that their ability to provide responsible and accurate "news" has been compromised." To a huge degree, my man! As you and I have both stated: Sensationalism sells.
"Staging and directing news to fit a narrow agenda is the apparent model for the news gathering business! The story must be told as opposed to reported!" Hear, hear! There is nowhere near enough real reporting; editorializing in the place of reporting is the rule of the day, and it is almost always tilted and spun way to the left.
"Michael Jackson was found innocent of the charges he faced in a trial that was a media circus." (Make appropriate buzzer sound) Wrong! He was found not guilty. Not the same as innocent. Not guilty means there was not proof beyond reasonable doubt of guilt (apparently thanks to a poor job by the prosecutor), therefore freeing him of the charges, but it is not to say he never did anything.
"Americans have another media circus coming to town in the war in Iraq! The "telling" of the Iraq story has not been factual! The truth has not been "reported"! And there are a lot of Dead Bodies not being "reported" in Iraq!" The circus has been going on since the outset, but beyond that you're absolutely right again. A whole lot of facts are being ignored by the media; see my "Why We Fight" blog at http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/WriterofLight8744/ for a very few of the stories that are being overlooked by the anti-war, I-hate-Bush former mainstream media. And the dead bodies not being reported are those of the terrorists who are being eliminated.
All in all, a fine job, glenn! You're sounding like a real conservative!
