It was not that they had any fixes they wanted. The pieces were just not right for them, not what they were looking for. Several have asked to see more of my work and I have been trying to get something finished for them. My problem is I have many, many half finished stories. I need to find the time to focus on them and get them done. If it was just a few little changes I would have done that already. One time they even said they had just bought a very similar story and did not wish to publish to so very much alike stories, otherwise he would have gone for it.
Do you know who share my mother's name? And you are around her age.

feedback on rejections
If an editor or publisher has given you feedback, made suggestions about something you sent them, it is the equivalent of an A+ grade on an exam!!! It's not an out-and-out rejection. Many people send in good stuff all the time and get form letter rejections -- for Pete's sake, take the suggestion and follow it! Fix whatever they thought was the problem. Then send it back to the kind soul who took time to give you personal time, with a "thank you, I've followed your advice, and hope it meets your publication requirements now" letter . At least this is what they told me in writing courses. Good luck!!!
