You're the mum so you know better than any of us. He maybe feeling physically uncomfortable besides wanting physical things. Some kids use the pacifier, some comfort toy etc. Try all methods until something works.

thank you for sharing and for your advice, lovelyladymonk
I wished I had done it before after reading your comment I went straight on the net looking and it says they can learn as young as 9 months for sign language so I am going to print off and teach him now...I know simple words like no and yes (which I use he does and he does it back to me) I know biscuit and tea a few others but thats about it....and thats only because when I worked at a nursery a little girl was deaf and I wanted to communicate with her so I took it upon myself to learn a little...now I want to learn the whole lot...

The screams can wear ya out Symph!
I didn't 'own' a screamer..thankfully..but I know a lot of kids who do scream. The sign language idea is a good one. My niece taught her baby sign language when she was less than a year. The baby is now 18 mos and uses words now but when she wanted someething she would tell her mom using signs..it's very cool! And I love the idea of a book..I used to think the same thing when mine were little..if only there was a book where I could look up each days occurrences to learn how to deal with them..but there ain't one! Good Luck...and try to relax tonight! :)

Symphony...
I think it's wonderful that you want to teach Jamie some sign language!! I used to give free lessons to anyone who wanted them...but of course, it's American sign language. I do know some European and Australian sign language because Mick's oldest brother was born completely deaf. If I lived closer to you, I'd be happy to teach you
The sooner you could start teaching Jamie, the better. Studies have shown that even children who are not deaf or hearing impaired learn to articulate their feelings better simply by learning to sign. While it is important for Jamie to continue to verbalize what he feels and wants, the signing would be a great way to help him out.
It's also a great way to help him and Shannon understand people who can't hear or speak to them with words...Just my thoughts...
Hope you have a great weekend!!...As for Jamie's screaming and crying...It will pass...Just when I can't say for sure...Good luck to you!!....

Hi Symph
You know... my little girl does not even cry out loud most of the time. She has these tears that fall from her eyes like diamonds... and that just kills me. Sometimes, I think it would be better if she had a horrifying wail... I'd be less likely to give in.
