I misunderstood your comment Glenn
I thought you were actually critisizing Cheney for using profanity.
I am not so naive as to be " sweet and nice" when appraising politics.

Cantey 1975,
You seem so sweet and nice (not in a Male pig way). Of course that was not the first time. But you can't back down when someone gets in your face! It's too wimppy! Especially if you are a Senator elected to represent the People of your State! If it will cost you your job then maybe discretion is the bigger form of valor!

Hemlocker,
This is not about love of country! Iraqis love their country! Who do you know that does not love their country? Right now America is being "ruled" like a criminal enterprise! That is what we had better get angry about! Not this bull about Liberal and Conservative! We can overthrow these clowns and be well within our legal and Constitutional Rights!

"I love my country but I fear my government." I know that's a bumper sticker, but there is something to it. The Bush Administration wants people to believe that if you harbor ideas, beliefs, goals or agendas that oppose theirs, then you "hate America." So whenever legitimate dissent is voiced, guaranteed by our constitution, those who voted for Bush and are happy they did so ask, "Why do they hate America so much? Thus are dissenters marginalized and rendered impotent. It's a below-the-belt tactic, but quite effective. Hemlocker

Glenn I was not talking political correctness
I was talking patriotism issues. Distinguishing between "America" and the " Bush administration" is not being politically correct, it was an attempt to determine where your hatred is aimed at: the country or the administration.
as far a Cheney, I dont think that is the first time profanity has occured on the Senate floor.

Cantey 1975,
Yes, but there are a lot of guilt to spread around! You, me, the passive electorate all are responsible for the incompetence or competence of our leaders!

Cantey 1975,
I am talking about debate not political correctness! I want people in your face debate! Remember Cheney told a certain weak knee Senator to perform a sex act on himself? There should have been a little more heat generated, but the coward will always retreat to the safe harbor of civility when violence is most appropriate!

Yes, I read the post
but when you say " America" is a criminal empire as opposed to the " Bush administration"
there is the difference. Do you see what I mean?
maybe I just dont understand you.

Cantey 1975,
Did you see any of the other words in the writing? Yes, when you commit a crime you are a criminal! That is real! Murder people you are a murderer! Lie you are a liar! You may not think it can happen to you! But, am I saying anything that is not true?

Glenn
my point is there are Americans who love their country but speak out in dissent, which is a uniquely wonderful American priveledge.
then there are those who just hate America all in all.
I am not sure which catagory you fall in.
