Kooka
I understand your reasoning and there is really nothing here to disagree with on a rational level. Of course a person needs to know who they are before their beliefs can really jive and be true. I understand that. And I also understand why you say that my statements are wrong and illogical because I know pretty much how you think.
So we are on the same page in the respect I know where you are coming from.
The problem here is I am not sure how to explain how I get my ideas about faith to you and it make sense to you. Because I know how you thinkI and I am not stating that arrogantly, I have been reading your work for a long time now), it is difficult to explain where my " faith" comes from to you and you be able to at least not drop your jaw and marvel at the strange and seemingly dangerous illogic of it.
The fundamental block in communication here ( and I think it is representative of the block in communication in most atheits and Christians) is NOTHING in your faith and beliefs is precipiced in God. It all comes from yourself. Fine. That is who you are.
My faith and beliefs, and the other hand, are precipiced in my RELATIONSHIP with a Being that you reject the very existence of. My arrival at my ever deepening and widening self realization and awareness of the universe and how things work overall comes from that RELATIONSHIP with God.
The only thing I disagree with you on is my faculty of thinking about faith is dangerous but please NOTE: I am speaking for MYSELF there and also true Christians.
Believing in something that is actually imaginary in order to substitute your own lack of self esteem, self worth or willingness to deal with your issues is INDEED dangerous.
But that is NOT the essence of Christianity in its pure form.
