Avant-garde,
I was thinking (again) that very same thing today. Someone once told me that bitterness is a choice, now I realize that forgiveness is a choice, it frees my heart up for peace.  Until I really believed in the love of God, I couldn't fully accept that.  You're right.

the older i get, the more i see that i have a choice in what i experience, no matter what the situation. conversing with people of different (sometimes radically different) belief systems used to make me apprehensive, which led to being defensive. now i realize that i am making choices on the matter. thanks for responding.

Avant-garde,
When the heart and eyes are open, suddenly colors appear, and fear and craving disappear (for a moment, anyway).  Well said.
