wowow what a bizarre story calebs blogger
But as far as the tandem thing goes... I would say it is because God wants us to recognize we have a dualistic nature--a propensity for good and for evil; and we must choose to whom our allegiance will be paid.

Procreation?

Well... maybe God places a high value on procreation and there is an extra one in case one is lost in a war or injury.

A little of topic.. but I remember reading about a Union soldier in the Civil War that lost his testicles to a lead ball fired from a Confederate rifle.  Apparently there was a young, unmarried woman (a nurse perhaps?   likely a virgin in the 1860's I'd think) standing a few feet behind him and the same lead ball struck her, lodging in her womb.  I don't remember all the details but apparently she got pregnant from the Union Soldier's sperm transported by the lead ball.  The story ended by saying that the soldier and the young woman got married.

Why did your post make me think of this?  I have no idea.  My mind works in strange ways sometimes.
