- Go to Bolton's Nomination To U.N. Grows Shakier
They do as they wish in the corridors of power, MysticGmeKeeper.
I like that phrase you used: "the president and all his men." Reminds me of the Woodward and Bernstein book, All The President's Men. Freudian or intentional?
And, yes, it seems that another lackey gets a top-level position by doing some dirty work. They would have impeached Nixon for covering up a break-in that meant nothing in the larger course of events. They went after Clinton like the villagers after Frankenstein just for getting a blowjob. Now, you have a single-minded egomaniacal sonofabitch who sends our family, friends and children off to die in a godforsaken desert war of his own personal creation and they can't even get the simple-minded bastard and his entourage to answer a Congressional query for an explanation of the Downing St. memo. And you have barely heard the word "impeach."
Simply and unbelievably disgusting, all of it.

"sent Bolton to head off the weapons inpectors? "
and now he gets his reward...a promotion for what he did for the President and all his men:-) Just like everyone else got a promotion and an accomodation and a big fat pat on the back ...from the back slapper. It is absolutely unbelievable to me waht they are allowed to get away with, waht they have done...and no body seems able to stop them. Its really very scary!

I disagree, sarooster. Bolton is just the kind of guy we do not need as
our envoy to the United Nations. Chirac and the EU can be taken care of by just about any half-rate diplomat, but Bolton's lack of couth and his singlemindedness of purpose when he targets someone (wrongly, as too many times it appears he has) shows an egocentrism that a good diplomat should not disclose, even if he has one.

Sarooster,
Being a big prick is not grounds for advancement in life. He is lucky and still has teeth because he is in a profession that requires protocol and decorum!

I like John Bolton!
He is the type of guy we need to counteract such idiots as Jacques Chirac and the idiotic EU bunch. I am all for the guy. I think he will stir it up and make sure things go our way. I am all for that. Bolton is a fine man. His hair may be a bit messed up and off kilter, but then isn't the UN in general. Let's confirm him and get him in the job.

Saul_Relative,
I am very careful never to use the word "never" (except in this case)! There are too many People harmed by this man's administration to get away with murder. Most people are not touched by the pain yet. But eternity is a long time!

I haven't seen a more unimpressive, incorrigible, self-important bunch
of old nonresponsive sanctimonious egomaniacs in my life. Nor have I come across so many in one place at one time, save maybe Tammany Hall.

Glennb, you are correct in your assessment of the Iraqi situation.
Sadly, you will never see war crimes trials convened against the president. Not too long ago a case was filed in World Court charging Rumsfeld and a few other generals with war crimes regarding Iraq. It reached a German court, and was dismissed.
However, if enough people can clear the smoke, we may actually see an investigation into the Bush administration's Iraqi activities, may actually see proceeding for impeachment begin. But if the Starr episode in the Clinton administration is any indication, it may end up being a circus for show with little or no substance.

Saul_Relative,
George Bush has built his administration on appointing people who are embarrassments to their professions! The more we spin our wheels on minutia (John Bolton is not qualified to serve as UN Ambassador) the longer Bush/Cheney escapes prosecution for war crimes! Iraq had no WMD before Gulf I and never had the capability to deploy WMD! The rationale for both wars were trumped up! Remember no one even noticed or cared that Saddam Hussein had deposed a bunch greedy and corrupt Arabs from Kuwait.
Bush I built the case, that still smolders today without any "real" facts to support combustion! Until the war crimes trials are started I am keeping my distance from the bull!
