Go to God as The Universe as an Organism

- Go to EVOLUTION -- THE UNSEEN PROCESS
Ariel70 - i have to agree with you
on much of what you say
but why attempt to find a "cause" for evolution?
my view is that Evolution exists.
I do believe that God as the Universe an an Organism -- that somewhere there we seem to find a purposeful movement -- the evolution of the Universe seems to hint at that.
It's not static. astronomers discover new things about it every day.
I'm personally not concerned about what was before the "Big Bang" -- that is a "Great Unknown" we can only work with what we know.
and, basically I believe in organisms within organisms -- check out some of my postings for that.

Quite challenging notions. Several small points tho' : the German Me 262 jet-propelled fighter plane was flying in late 1944 early 1945, and the British Meteor, ( I think ) with an engine invented by Frank Whittle, at about the same time. And the German V2 rockets had been falling on London since September 1944. I know this because I was in London at the time.
But these are minor cavils, and in no way detract from your argument, which is thought-provoking. I was brought up a Catholic, but am now an atheist, but I've never really been completely convinced by Evolution theory, simply because it's an action without a cause.
In reply to my usual query " Okay, so what came before the Big Bang?" Evolutionists usually reply " That's meaningless" Which is a cop-out,isn't it? If the Universe is infintie in space and time, then there must have been something going on in this " meaninigless" period before the Big Bang.
We can observe that the Univers is axpanding, but who knows if this will go on forever? it could collapse in on itself and form one gigantic black hole. But can a black hole exist without fresh matter to feed it? or The Universe coul reach a state of stasis ; much like it is now.
As for the Earth, I'm attracted to the ancient Greek concept of Gaia ; of Earth being a self-regulating, self-sustaining organism. and even a cataclysmic nuclear war isn't capable of destroying it. Okay, we might go, but we aren't the only species, are we? And as for global warming ; what a lot of hot air! In what? 30, 40, 50 years fossil fuels will run out. No fossils fuels ; no global warming.
On the social level, progress is an illusion ; there just ain't no such critter. of course we're more propserous than our ancestors ; fewer of us starve or die of diseases than in former eras. Only a God, if he existed. could truly weigh the antis against the pros, and say that we've progressed.
In my recent research for a series of articles on the Sapnish Inquisition, I was struck, not by how much bigoted attiudes had changed seince the 15th century ; but how depressingly little. Progress? Gimme a break!
