No, thank you guys, michael_pilarte and kingmi for thinking so highly of

my words to impart a simple thanks.  Beleive me, I am humbled.  This is why I write, to find the connection with good people such as you and RAME and so many others...

Saul,
I'll second that: I don't like this war, even less than the first Iraq war, but I will always appreciate and respect the soldiers who are in it.

My thoughts go out to you, RAME, especially today. And tell your son
that there's at least one blogger out here that's proud of him and his service to our nation, even if I hate that damned war.  And I'm glad he made it home.

Oh, Saul,
we deeply appreciate that he is home and safe. We thank God every single day.

Your son is right, RAME, you should not feel guilty, simply grateful

for his safe return.  And regardless of how anyone feels about the wars and conflicts our nation has been in, the common military man or woman was or is only doing their duty.  They are still the protectors of our nation and our way of life.  They deserve that respect.

I am so glad your son is home safe.  I only wish that so many more could have come home with him, and so many more had not come home in a draped casket.

You said it beautifully.
We need to remember and appreciate all that the men and women who served and/or died for us sacrificed. When our son, Joey, was here yesterday, we told him how we are ever to grateful to have him back. We told him how it felt to us while he was over there. Said that anytime there was a holiday or fun get-together, it was always tempered with sadness and guilt that he wasn't there and that we were safe and happy and enjoying ourselves while he was over there in that hell. His answer was that that was why he and all the others were over there in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in past wars like Viet Nam, Korea, etc. He said that we shouldn't feel guilty, that he and many others chose to do that. Of course, we appreciate it, but we still feel so badly for those who are over there and those, especially, who have lost their lives.
