Mama.Dragonfly,
Why can't it be a cute voice at 49??

I wouldn't use it....I hate the sound of my own voice! I think I sound like a four-year-old. Some have called it "cute". But at 49-years-old, I am past being "cute", don't you think?
On the other hand, I've been told my voice was sexy, but I think that had more to do with the words being spoken than the way they were voiced!

Talion,
You wouldn't be "free speaking" you'd be reading what you wrote. Like a narrator.

Temple,
I would think it would have to be written regardless. It would just give some the option to
also speak it.

ginnieb,
I think people detect mine so much cause I'm down here in the south. I can hear it on others sometimes, too. Most of the time I don't even think about it unless one of my co-workers calls me a Yankee for some reason or other. Usually it's after I say certain words and they wanna make fun of me.

Why thanks SpitFire...
it might be cool, I could post when I really did not have time to write it out, but really...I'm a writer before I'm a speaker, though I enjoy both...peace...

I'd never use it. It's strange that I write, even on the fly, in perfect English, but my speech isn't unless I think about it, like when I'm at work.

Don't be sorry, it's true....Jimmy has a good voice....
I was all crazy about his voice before I met him....not that I don't love it now, too. I would say that it's fine if people want that as an option, but for me, I wouldn't offer it. I'm a writer and if I can't convey what I'm trying to in writing, then I have a problem. People use different word choices when speaking. It'd be nice to hear voices sometimes, but I think if it's about writing it isn't about speaking....but if it's just about telling a story, then it would be good. Cute new pics, too....

Would sure add a different dimension!
There's a link in Passionflower's post today about talking to each other that sends you to a test for a linguistic profile that is a real kick to take and if you can figure out how to do it(I couldn't), you could at least give a little box that shows what you're accent sounds like...it was fun and I'd say my results were accurate. The sound over our computer speakers wouldn't be very true, would it?

LOL Spitfire...
..I'd be able to detect your Chicago accent..we live a few hours from there and we love the accent. But everyone loves Steve's. People in stores ask him to keep talking..saying they love his accent..it's cute!

spatrick,
I realize many may feel they don't want to voice any of their works, but I think it may be a nice option for some to do if they want to. I wouldn't recommend a "voice only" blog cause that may turn away readers, but if it can be an option to read and hear it (or both) if one chooses, then it would be cool.

I don't know about voices...I guess it depends on what they sound like if it would make it better or not...I personally am to shy to put my voice out there...

HolyG,
Yeah, I know
you would and possibly others, too! But, this idea is just to offer the writer the
opportunity to record it. It would be up to the writer to offer it only in voice if they choose, but I wouldn't recommend that cause it would probably cut their amount of readers to their blogs. On the other hand, this may also increase certain bloggers' reading audience, too. So, everybody wins either way.

Factor,
Interesting thought. However, what if you had the choice of only reading, only listening, or both at the same time? Then what would you think?

Reni,
Really? K, but I think there should be an option to hear it or just read it. And, the option to record it would obviously be the decision of the writer.

I promised not to write any more "poetry" myself...
but it would make an interesting addition. For some things I would prefer to have a "transcription" though because I absorb ideas better by reading than by listening.

I think it would possibly entise new bloggers to join, too. Especially the poets.

ginnieb,
Actually, your accent probably wouldn't sound too weird to me since supposedly (from what I'm constantly reminded of cause I live in the south) I have a very strong northern midwest accent. I actually notice an accent when talking to friends and family back home in Chicago! Oh, and yeah, that British accent! What's with that? I love them!

I'd be a chicken shit Spitfire! ;)
First of all that is so horrid that someone actually left such a comment on your poem! Horrid.
I agree that poetry would be best read by the poet. And..while I do love to go to authors' readings..couldn't do it myself! And LOL..Wiley's Canadian accent! I wonder how my Canadian accent would sound to you? Since living in the US I've come to notice Canadian accents..it's kinda funny..I never realized the things I say or the way I sound until moving here..eh? But people only want to hear my husband speak..with his British accent..much more exotic! ;)
