Michael,
Good questions, why not write down the basic philsophy, the history as it was happening? There are so many more writings in the Old Testament, than the new, which consists of: 4 eyewitness accounts afterwards by participants or, after the fact, by investigators, a historical account of the apostle's founding the church (Acts), and 20-something letters from Paul, Peter, and a couple other missionaries, which consist mostly of things pertaining to the group they were talking to at the time, but are studied to derive general truths (Paul's letters to various cities, while traveling, sounded like scolding, teaching, etc.). What if the answer is that, it's not something able to be written, but experienced? "There will come a time when I will write my law on their hearts and minds."

Questions about God...

I had to add a p.s. to my comments. In talking with my husband, regarding these issues.  (He is also a Christian)...he said tell Michael that things got started first of all with Satan in the garden of eden...then with Abraham and Sarah.  If you're familiar with their story in the bible...God promised Abraham a son (back when he was Abraim and Sara was Sarai.  It didn't happen for years, and Sarai got impatient. She was past childbearing years, and thought God was never going to give them a son...so she told Abraim to go in to Haggar, her servant girl and conceive a child. She was trying to help God along.  But in doing this she made a real mess of things for herself.  Abraim complied with her and had a son by Haggar.  The son's name was Ishmael.  Of course Haggar loved having her Master's son...and lorded it over Sarai, which wounded her deeply as she was childless.  So she kicked Haggar out with the boy,  God spoke to Haggar in the desert and told her to go back and serve her Master.  She did.

Then God miraculously gave Sarai and Abraim a child of their own....(Isaac)...though they were both past childbearing years.  (I think Sarai was 80 or roundabouts)...Since that time...the two nations they represented...have been at war.   (Ishmael and Isaac)...Ishmael represented the Muslim nation and Isaac the Jewish.   God changed Abraim and Sarai's names to Abraham and Sarah..  You can read all this in the bible.  It explains itself and is very interesting.  It tells our history (in the old testament) our present (in the new) and our future (in the final book of the bible called Revelation.  (which is the revelation of Jesus Christ.)  That book is written in symbols a lot and has explanation of it all.  Thanks for listening.

my only advice is to love God... and see what answers He sends you... there are so many facets of the truth....  that any man thinks his arms are wide enough to reach around God and define Him definitively, blows me away...  unless they are one of the few enlightened ones... and even they would not be able to define God to you... God is beyond definition...

i won't knock sunshinegal

although I do have a problem with her approach.  sort of Pollyannaish.

the problem is that we have a medieval explanation for religion that 21st century people cling to.  they should move ahead about 5 centuries.

my take on Jesus (Greek-Roman rendering), born a Jew named Yeshua (Joshua in today's English), is that he was a precocious person who became a Rabbi and whose teachings were very popular in the Galilee where he had his base.

The man, Yeshua, showed the path to Salvation, which path is Christ.  You say that, because he showed this path, then he was Christos in that anyone showing this path would also be Christos.

Christ also is a Roman name.  Messiah was more likely.

I've mentioned Messiah several times in my blogs.  You can do a search for "messiah" and research this in my and others' blogs.

I've said that what is important is the present moment, how sacred we hold everything that we encounter in the present moment and what we do with the present moment.  The arranging of our lives around this vision of sacredness of ourselves and everything else is Messiah in its strictest essence.

don't let anyone tell you , "lo! he is here!" or "Lo!  He is there!"

Christ is a concept that eventually everyone will understand.

Christianity has been divided on this issue

since the very beginning.

the faction that held that Jesus Christ was the "only begotten son of god" finally won out through various means of suppressing the opposition.

what we have is tradition forged through this early means.

that doesn't mean the the prevailing view is valid.

that simply means that it is the prevailing view.

Michael -

In my opinion, you don't need facts and you don't need faith. All you need to do is listen to yourself. You have the Truth inside of you. You have the spark of "God" inside of you. A lot of times thinking and reasoning can get in the way of just being and listening to yourself. Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, they all speak to you through the Truth, if you are willing to listen.

Why can't Christians agree?
This will be my last comment.  Christians can agree.  When we come into line with God's word, which is The Truth...we are then in agreement.  When we disagree with God...there lies our problem.  Trust me...The Bible is the Truth!  Don't listen to other books.  They are man-made.  The Bible is God's inerrant WORD.  That Word came alive in Jesus Christ here on earth.  He is now in heaven waiting to see who will believe.  He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.. The shedding of his blood...his sinless life...his oneness with God the Father...these are all reasons why we can believe he is who he is.  We also have prayer.  But you must accept God's answers to prayer, and not continue to believe wrongly.  Keep praying to him until you are sure, if you have doubts.  He WILL show you Who He is...I hope you find your answers.  I have come to you in the name of the Lord to try and help.  So long.....

on Faith in Jesus Christ

The Bible says that 'Every knee shall bow...every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord"   It is just a matter of time...we either do it before death...and get to go to heaven...or after death, in hell looking on what we missed and wishing we had listened and become born again as he asked..
