kingmi - I got in a bit of trouble once trying to tell a Mexican chef that he was a good cocinero.   I said cochinero instead and, I thought he was going to come after me with one of his butcher knives.   He did not think it was a bit funny.

kingmi - It's still a good thing to use a new language, goofs & all. Apparently I made a big one when visiting my Peace Corps son in Paraguay. We had just arrived at his small village house, after a 100 mile terrifying bus ride from the airport. A local friend came to his house for the welcome. As we visited I commented, in rusty Spanish, on the fish in my son's aquarium. Friend and son LOL, tho not unkindly - just amused. Still, today, I do not want to know how I goofed; if you can guess, I still do not want to know.
