But that brings up an important question, Symph
What's worse, not to be able to sleep though very tired, or to be plagiarized rather than quoted???

Symphony
It has been years since I have a full nights sleep. I have to take a pill in order to get to sleep and when that wears off...I'am wide awake. As you can see it is only5:30am here and I didn't go to bed until after 1. It just is awful.

This is an interesting post. I have no pattern to my sleep, actually never
have had. I like to work late, sleep late but couldn't do that with children. I do some now. I am a light sleeper I think that is the mother thing.

Drinking heavily always used to work for me.
Actually, I'm one of those who takes forever to get to sleep, but once I'm down, I'm gone.In fact, in the last ten years, I've slept through two tornadoes, a car wreck, and at least one small earthquake.

I find if I do some kind of exercise during the day
I sleep better at night. Been a long time since I've slept more than four hours though. Little noises still wake me.

I'm still a sound sleeper but since I've been working graveshift I don't even remeber what sleeping is anymore, (sight). ~Silly

Symphony,
Sleep is a good thing, I can't get enough of it.  It sounds like you're feeling protective, you need to keep alert to make sure that the kids aren't getting into anything while you're asleep or need anything, as well as keeping the home safe.  Maybe you'll sleep a little sounder when the little ones are older and don't need so much watching.

SYMPHONY, Usually I drop off to sleep pretty quickly and sleep pretty soundly for four or five hours.   After that, it depends.   I have never seemed to need more than about that much sleep per night.    Now that I am older though, if I sit down in the middle of the afternoon, I am likely to get sleepy and drop off for a nap.  If I keep going instead of sitting down, I don't get sleepy.   When my children were at home, every little noise woke me up and I would check on them all night long.    Well, you asked.   LOL

Are you sleeping Symph?
Not getting enough sleep must be very difficult for you with two young children to care for! And you are always on the go too? Do you feel tired during the day? Or are interrupted nights, when you can't sleep, okay for you? I used to sleep great..other than the several years of menopause when sleep was just a dream! Now I'm on so much medication that I never know how the night will go..nightmares, hallucinations but mostly just fitful. I long for a peaceful, unassisted night's sleep again.

Symphony...

I have severe insomnia, so like you it takes me ages on end to drift off to sleep.  I do all the things you mentioned.
